Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein came to Today to promote a Netflix romantic comedy, but Savannah Guthrie turned part of the interview into the question viewers were already asking online.

During the June 2 appearance, Guthrie pressed the Office Romance costars about whether their onscreen chemistry had become a real-life relationship. Lopez laughed off the speculation before giving the direct answer: she and Goldstein are not dating.

The Question Came During an Office Romance Press Stop

Lopez and Goldstein appeared together on NBC’s morning show as the press tour for Office Romance continued before the movie’s Netflix release.

Netflix Tudum says the rom-com premieres June 5. Lopez stars as Jackie Cruz, while Goldstein plays Daniel Blanchflower. The movie is described as a workplace romance about two workaholics who get into trouble when they start following their hearts.

Goldstein also co-wrote the film with Joe Kelly, while Ol Parker directed. That made the press-tour chemistry part of the sales pitch before Guthrie asked whether there was anything happening offscreen.

Lopez Said the Rumors Follow Her Work

When Guthrie asked about the relationship chatter, Lopez did not treat it like a major confession.

People reported that Lopez said rumors start any time she is seen with someone or works with someone. Goldstein joked that simply standing near Lopez is enough to make the speculation begin.

Guthrie kept pushing, telling the pair that the first response had not quite answered the question.

Lopez pushed back by saying that being linked to people does not make the rumors true. She mentioned that she had also been connected to Kevin Costner this year as an example of how quickly the speculation moves.

When Guthrie asked directly whether Lopez and Goldstein were dating in real life, Lopez answered, “Not dating.” Goldstein agreed, saying, “Correct.”

TMZ framed the exchange as Lopez making clear that her Office Romance with Goldstein belongs to the movie, not her personal life.

The Segment Stayed Playful

The interview did not turn into a tense celebrity dodge.

After Guthrie kept pressing, the exchange turned lighter when the host admitted she had become flustered during the segment. Lopez teased her about the moment, joking that Guthrie had tried to fluster them and ended up flustered herself.

The live moment worked because the answer became clear without killing the mood of the press stop. Lopez and Goldstein kept the banter, but the dating label was removed.

The Movie Explains the Chemistry

The dating question did not come out of nowhere.

Lopez and Goldstein are promoting a romantic comedy built around their pairing, and Netflix’s campaign has leaned into the workplace-romance setup. People also reported that Lopez and Goldstein had been playful about their connection before the Today interview.

That made Guthrie’s question obvious television. It also gave Lopez a chance to draw the line herself.

For now, the public answer is simple: Lopez and Goldstein are selling Office Romance, which premieres June 5, but both said on Today that they are not dating in real life.
