John Boyega has confirmed that he and his wife have welcomed a baby boy, following his recent revelation that he is married.
The 34-year-old Star Wars actor shared the news on Instagram.
In an interview published by The Guardian on October 4, he had described their baby as being on the way.
Boyega also spoke about being a stepfather to a young boy, offering a rare account of the family life he has built away from the spotlight.
Boyega Says Their Baby Has Been Here for Some Time
“Our bundle of joy has been with us for some time now,” Boyega wrote in the post covered by PEOPLE on October 14. He has not disclosed his son’s name or exact birth date.
The announcement included a short video of Boyega holding the baby and stroking his head. He ended the caption with a glimpse of his new routine: “Back to feeding this big baby!”
Actress Lashontae Heckard also appeared alongside him in the carousel. Her Instagram profile uses the name Tae Boyega, and she commented, “love and blessings to my Blessing!!!!” Boyega had left his wife’s identity undisclosed in the earlier interview.
A Question About His Ring Revealed the Marriage
Boyega’s wedding disclosure came near the end of the Guardian conversation, when the interviewer asked about the jewelry on his left hand. He identified the band as his wedding ring and said he had been married for “coming up to two years.” The couple had chosen a small ceremony and kept the occasion out of public view.
When the interviewer noticed that his ring differed from the one he wore in his documentary, Boyega explained the sentimental history behind it. He and his wife had made a spontaneous trip to Walmart because he wanted a ring on his finger immediately. Boyega and his wife would still like to hold a traditional Nigerian wedding celebration.
They liked the idea of celebrating a relationship that was established, instead of making the wedding party the event that marked its beginning. He joked that their eventual festivities might have to “shut Nigeria down.” Discussing his growing household, Boyega said, “My life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family.”

Boyega was promoting Damilola: The Untold Story, which revisits the death of his childhood friend in November 2000. Boyega was eight when 10-year-old Damilola Taylor was killed in Peckham, south London.
Boyega and his sister Grace were among the last people to see Damilola alive. The three attended the same primary school and had spent time at a local library before Damilola left for home, according to The Standard.
Directed by Alex Thomas, the film examines Damilola’s final 24 hours and includes contributions from Grace and Damilola’s brother, Tunde Taylor. It premiered on BBC Two on October 5 and is available on iPlayer.
At a screening discussion documented by BAFTA, Boyega said the project had helped him reconnect with home and remember the people who supported him growing up. He wanted younger audiences to understand how the tragedy had affected the community.
Boyega told the Guardian that he intends to show the film to his son when he is old enough to understand that history. He also described his parenting priorities: “I just want to make sure I’m present, I’m consistent and full of love.”
