Jonathan Bailey is taking on one of literature’s most recognizable villains in Audible’s new full-cast adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
The Bridgerton and Wicked actor voices Count Dracula in an immersive audio production arriving Oct. 1.
Bailey leads an English-language ensemble that includes Ella Purnell, Aimee Lou Wood, Louis Partridge, David Jonsson, Lesley Manville and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Audible is presenting the 1897 gothic novel as a psychological thriller centered on the battle between Dracula and Mina Murray, played by Purnell. After Mina’s fiancé disappears in Transylvania, she begins assembling letters, diary entries and testimony to uncover what happened.
Ella Purnell Leads the Hunt for Dracula
Purnell’s Mina becomes the story’s central investigator after Jonathan Harker vanishes during his journey to Transylvania. Louis Partridge voices Jonathan, while Aimee Lou Wood plays Mina’s close friend Lucy Westenra.
David Jonsson appears as Dr. Seward, Lesley Manville voices Mrs. Westenra, Johnny Flynn plays Renfield and Francis Lovehall takes the role of Arthur Holmwood. Gyllenhaal voices Professor Van Helsing.
Audible’s official synopsis follows Mina as she connects clues surrounding Jonathan’s disappearance and realizes that the predator targeting the people she loves is also pursuing her.
When Lucy falls under Dracula’s influence, Van Helsing joins the effort to fight him. The adaptation places Mina’s intelligence and determination at the center of the conflict rather than treating her only as someone Dracula intends to victimize.

Bailey is performing Dracula as part of an ensemble rather than narrating an unabridged reading of Stoker’s novel. Audible describes the project as a dramatized audio experience supported by detailed sound design and an original score.
Mary Lambert, the filmmaker behind the 1989 horror movie Pet Sematary, makes her audiobook-directing debut with the English-language production. Robyn Ahern adapted the novel, while Ilan Eshkeri composed the music.
“When Dracula whispers in your ear, when you hear his footsteps in the dark but see no reflection, that’s when you understand why we’re the home for this story,” Aurelie de Troyer, Audible’s head of international content, said in the announcement.
De Troyer said the production elevates the psychological struggle between Mina and Dracula while using audio to place listeners inside the characters’ pursuit of one another.

The English, French, Italian, Castilian Spanish and Latin American Spanish adaptations will launch exclusively on Audible on Oct. 1. The German edition is scheduled for Feb. 9, 2027. Audible plans to release the Brazilian Portuguese production later in 2027, but its cast and exact premiere date have not been announced.
Omar Sy voices Dracula opposite Deva Cassel’s Mina in the French edition. Riccardo Scamarcio and Benedetta Porcaroli lead the Italian cast, while Matthias Schweighöfer and Jeanne Goursaud take the central roles in German.
The Castilian Spanish production stars Asier Etxeandía as Dracula and Claudia Salas as Mina. José María de Tavira and Esmeralda Pimentel lead the Latin American Spanish version.
Each edition features a complete local ensemble rather than translated dialogue layered over the performances recorded by Bailey, Purnell and the English cast.
