Kaia Gerber says she underwent an unusual “exorcism” as a child after being told she was possessed, sharing the story publicly for the first time during a new podcast appearance.

The 24-year-old model and actress made the disclosure alongside The Shards co-star Graham Campbell on the Aug. 14 episode of The Mitch Churi Chat Show.

Gerber said the ritual involved someone playing a didgeridoo over her body.  The story surfaced as Gerber recalled her mother, Cindy Crawford, sending holy water with her to the set of American Horror Story: Double Feature.

Although Gerber connected the two anecdotes during the conversation, she did not explicitly say Crawford performed or arranged the childhood ritual.

When host Mitch Churi asked whether she had actually been exorcised, Gerber said she had. “They played a didgeridoo all over me,” she recalled, explaining that was how the ritual had been carried out.

Gerber offered few other details but insisted the memory was real. “That actually did happen,” she said, adding that she had never spoken about it publicly before. Gerber kept the exchange light and joked that she was now “all healed.”

She also said she has felt haunted throughout her life and believes she has a tendency to attract beings from other dimensions. The anecdote was subsequently highlighted by Page Six and the Daily Mail. Gerber presented the story as her personal recollection and belief.

Cindy Crawford Sent Holy Water to the ‘American Horror Story’ Set

The unusual childhood memory came up while Gerber was discussing her first experience working in Ryan Murphy’s television universe. Gerber said Crawford gave her holy water before she went to work on American Horror Story: Double Feature in 2021 because her mother did not want her to become possessed.

Gerber responded by revealing that she had been told she was possessed as a child. The FX anthology’s 10th season marked one of Gerber’s early television acting roles. She played Kendall Carr in the Death Valley half of Double Feature.

Gerber has now reunited professionally with Murphy for The Shards, the FX drama based on Bret Easton Ellis’ 2023 novel. Murphy serves as an executive producer, writer and director on the series.

Gerber plays Susan Reynolds, whom FX describes as the most popular girl in school, a cheerleader destined to become homecoming queen. Gerber told The Mitch Churi Chat Show that working on the project was “a dream,” explaining that she had followed Murphy’s work since growing up with shows including Glee and later going back to watch Nip/Tuck. New episodes of The Shards air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on FX and stream on Hulu.
