Princess Charlotte competed for Lambrook School in a national under-11 netball tournament earlier this year, giving a new glimpse at how seriously the young royal has taken up one of her mother’s former sports.
GB News and the Daily Mail brought renewed attention to Charlotte’s competitive netball on Aug. 16. The clearest public confirmation came from the opposing school.
An April 30 Instagram post from the official junior-school account for Notting Hill & Ealing High School said its under-11 team had faced Lambrook during the Independent Association of Prep Schools National Netball Finals at Kent College. The post specifically noted that the girls had played against Princess Charlotte.
Charlotte’s interest was back in public view on Aug. 1, when she joined Prince William, Princess Kate, Prince George and Prince Louis at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The children were making their first official public appearance in Scotland, and the family watched Jamaica defeat Australia in a dramatic netball semifinal.

The NHEHS Juniors post said its team defeated Lambrook 10-5 in the quarterfinal, adding that the players had enjoyed competing against Princess Charlotte. NHEHS then won its semifinal 8-6 after extra time before finishing the national competition with silver medals.
The IAPS championship information identifies Kent College as the venue for the U11 national final following a series of qualifying competitions around the country.
Charlotte and her brothers have attended Lambrook since September 2022. Netball is part of the sports program for prep pupils at the Berkshire school, alongside football, rugby, hockey, athletics and cricket. Lambrook says pupils can also participate in sports including tennis, swimming, basketball and skiing.
Kate Had Already Been Teaching Charlotte How to Shoot
Charlotte’s netball training was first discussed publicly in October 2023. Former England captain Ama Agbeze told PEOPLE that Kate had been teaching her daughter how to shoot, although the lower hoop used by younger players meant the technique was different.
Kate had just taken part in a netball shooting challenge during a SportsAid mental-fitness workshop at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre. The Royal Family’s account of the visit said she and William completed challenges designed to test their performance while dealing with distractions and external pressure.
The Princess of Wales has her own history with the sport. During a January 2026 visit to Wakefield Trinity Rugby League club, Kate said she had played “loads of netball” at school. Her official royal biography more broadly describes her as a keen sportswoman whose interests have included tennis, hockey and sailing.
At that same January engagement, Kate gave another update on Charlotte’s sporting life, saying her daughter did “loads of sports” at school but was not yet playing much rugby there. Charlotte’s other publicly discussed interests have included gymnastics, ballet, track and soccer.

She joined William, Kate, George and Louis at Glasgow’s Hydro arena for the women’s semifinal between Jamaica and defending champion Australia. Jamaica pulled off a 46-45 upset, advancing to the gold-medal match after Australia missed an opportunity to force extra time in the final seconds.
The family also spent time with athletes and volunteers during the Games. Charlotte was seen with members of Scotland’s netball team, while William later told Welsh athletes that his daughter also “loves gymnastics and ballet.”
Prince Louis reached a milestone of his own during the outing, attending his first public sporting event. For George, Charlotte and Louis collectively, the trip marked their first official public appearance in Scotland.
