Kelly Clarkson joked that she no longer has to worry about getting fired by NBC as The Kelly Clarkson Show approaches the end of its seven-season run.
During the first concert of her 2026 Las Vegas residency dates on Friday, July 17, Clarkson stopped to admire a fan’s sequined jacket at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
While running her hand over the sleeve, she said, “I would get fired by NBC, but I don’t work there anymore.”
Clarkson immediately clarified that she was sad to leave the daytime series, calling it “a fun show.” The singer announced in February that she had chosen to step away from the daily hosting schedule.
Clarkson Sang ‘No More HR Meetings’ From the Stage

Clarkson compared the rules of daytime television with the looser environment she experienced after beginning her music career as a teenager. “It’s funny, you go to those HR meetings and you’re, like, ‘Nobody on the road would last,’” she said, according to Us Weekly. “I was 19 on a bus with dudes,” Clarkson continued. “What, I can’t do what? ‘Yeah, that’s completely inappropriate.’” She then briefly sang, “No more HR meetings!”
The singer admitted that her tendency to question the training material made the meetings longer. “Everyone actually hated doing HR meetings with me because I am a nerd,” she said. “I would literally be, like, ‘I’m sorry,’ and I would stop the class and everyone would be like, ‘Can I do the meeting without Kelly?’”
Clarkson said coworkers would choose separate sessions because she wanted to examine each example instead of accepting the material without discussion. She defended the questions by noting that the meetings were intended to protect employees. “I feel you need to get into it,” she said. “You gotta protect everyone. Anyway, I don’t have to do it anymore.”
She Also Questioned One Rule About Compliments
Clarkson singled out workplace guidance discouraging employees from commenting on another person’s weight loss. She argued that telling someone they look good can be received as a compliment rather than an implied criticism of how they looked before.
“They say dumb s—,” Clarkson said, according to Entertainment Weekly. “Like, you can’t comment if someone’s lost weight, and I’m like, bitch! You better write a memo. You better write a memo about it, a song about it.”
She acknowledged that the rule was meant to prevent hurtful or inappropriate workplace comments but said she regularly challenged instructors about how their examples applied in real situations. Clarkson joked that her questions left the trainers “sweating,” adding, “I’m a curious cat, OK?”
Clarkson Chose to End the Show After Seven Seasons

Clarkson announced on Feb. 2 that the current season of The Kelly Clarkson Show would be its last. “Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives,” she wrote in a statement reported by People.
The decision followed the August 2025 death of her former husband, Brandon Blackstock, with whom she shared River and Remington. Clarkson later explained on Today that changes in their family life had forced her to reconsider how much work she could continue managing.
She emphasized that the show was performing well and that leaving its crew was one of the hardest parts of the decision. “We are a family there as well, so that was a really hard thing for me, but an easy decision as a momma,” Clarkson said. Production on the final season wrapped in May, but episodes will continue airing through fall 2026. Clarkson’s Studio Sessions residency continues at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace through Aug. 15.
