A man allegedly threatened a production worker with a butcher knife during filming of Michael B. Jordan’s Miami Vice ’85 in Brooklyn on Friday night, October 23.
The New York Police Department identified the suspect as Alex Perez, 23, of Brooklyn.
No one was injured, and officers recovered the knife, according to NBC News, which obtained an account from the NYPD. Police said Perez was taken into custody without incident.
The production was filming along Bay Parkway and McDonald Avenue near Washington Cemetery. Police placed the confrontation in the nearby area of Avenue N and McDonald Avenue.
Footage Shows a Worker Escorting the Man Away
According to TMZ’s police reporting, Perez allegedly began disrupting filming around 11 p.m. by running across the set.
The outlet published footage credited to Backgrid showing the worker escorting the man out of the production area. The man then reaches into his sweatshirt pocket and removes a large knife.
The staffer was a 43-year-old man who feared for his safety during the verbal dispute, the New York Post reported on October 25, citing police.
Perez Faces Menacing and Weapons Charges
An officer arrested Perez at approximately 11:17 p.m., TMZ reported. He was charged with second-degree menacing with a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
The outlet also reported that Perez directed a racial slur at the production worker while he was handcuffed. NBC News said it was not immediately clear whether he had retained an attorney.
Neither Jordan nor his costar Austin Butler has been identified as a target of the alleged threat. The published accounts do not establish whether either actor was present during the confrontation.

Earlier on Friday, ABC7 New York published a report by Phil Taitt, who spotted Jordan working near City Hall in Lower Manhattan.
Photographs collected by JoBlo showed Jordan running through city streets in a light gray suit and white tie. Other images featured Butler and John Leguizamo, who was photographed stepping out of a black sedan with a cigar.
A separate video shared by ComingSoon showed Jordan arriving in a black Buick Grand National, getting out and speaking with director Joseph Kosinski. Another captured multiple takes of an action sequence in an alley.

Universal announced on October 12 that production was underway, releasing the first official character images through the movie’s social accounts. TheWrap published the photographs, which introduced Jordan in a dark leather coat and Butler in a light-colored suit.
Jordan plays Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs, while Butler plays James “Sonny” Crockett. Philip Michael Thomas and Don Johnson originated the respective roles in the television series, which ran from 1984 to 1989.
The new film draws inspiration from the pilot and first season, returning the detectives to the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami. Michael Mann previously adapted the series into a 2006 movie starring Jamie Foxx as Tubbs and Colin Farrell as Crockett.
Kosinski, whose recent films include Top Gun: Maverick and F1, directs from a screenplay by Dan Gilroy. Eric Warren Singer wrote an earlier draft, according to Variety.
The supporting cast includes Alden Ehrenreich, Walton Goggins, Camila Morrone, Whitney Peak, Danny Ramirez, André Holland and Leguizamo. Kosinski is also producing the film alongside Dylan Clark.
Universal Pictures has scheduled Miami Vice ’85 for a theatrical release on May 19, 2028.
