Michael Shannon is married again after tying the knot with photographer Christy Bush in a private ceremony in Georgia.
The 52-year-old actor and Bush, 55, married in Athens last week after obtaining a marriage license on July 27. Page Six, which first reported the marriage, said the document had been signed and returned to the county court and was awaiting a judge’s signature.
The ceremony took place in Bush’s hometown and reportedly included family members as well as “famous friends and industry people.” Representatives for Shannon and Bush did not respond to the publication’s requests for comment.
The wedding also brought another previously private development into public view. Page Six reported that Shannon and actress Kate Arrington, his first wife and the mother of his two daughters, quietly divorced in 2022 without publicly announcing their split.
Shannon and Bush Had Already Started Appearing Together Publicly

Exactly when Shannon and Bush began dating or became engaged has not been disclosed. They had, however, started appearing together publicly well before news of their wedding surfaced.
In October 2025, the couple visited the Pasaquan art compound near Buena Vista, Georgia. A social media post documenting their visit said Bush and Shannon had been given a tour while they were in the area to see the exhibition IN THREES! Just Jared also cited the Pasaquan outing while reporting their marriage.
Shannon and Bush made another public appearance in January when they attended the Hermès autumn/winter 2026 men’s show during Paris Fashion Week. Photographers captured the couple together at the Jan. 24 event at Place de la Bourse in Paris.
The Wedding Marks a Second Marriage for Both
Shannon was previously married to actress Kate Arrington. The two met through Chicago’s theater community in 2002 and married in New York in 2017.
Page Six reported that court records show their divorce was finalized in 2022, although neither publicly announced their separation or divorce at the time.
Shannon and Arrington share two daughters. They continued to be seen together publicly after their divorce, with Page Six reporting that their last photographed appearance together came in November 2024.
Bush was previously married to Sam Fogarino, the drummer for Interpol. The former couple share a daughter, making her marriage to Shannon the second for Bush as well.

Bush is an Athens-based photographer whose career spans more than three decades of fashion, music, celebrity portraiture and fine art. Her first monograph, Familiar: 30 Years of Photographs, brings together more than 180 images from across her career and features a foreword by R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe.
Her official website describes the collection as 30 years of “Rock ‘n’ Roll, Fashion and Coming of Age in the South.” Bush studied photography at the University of Georgia and became part of Athens’ creative and music community in the early 1990s before moving to New York, where she spent 15 years building a career that included work for publications such as W, Interview and Harper’s Bazaar.
Her work has continued to include musicians, actors and other cultural figures. One of those subjects was Shannon himself. Bush photographed her now-husband for Brownstone Cowboys, with the magazine crediting her for a portrait feature on the actor. The professional collaboration was publicly visible earlier this year when fashion label 6397 shared images.
