Nicole Kidman’s recent time with businessman Michael Reinstein has generated a new round of romance speculation, along with contradictory claims about how her ex-husband, Keith Urban, feels about it.
Kidman and Reinstein were photographed together during an Italian getaway before he was later seen picking her up from a Los Angeles-area airport.
One report claims the photographs left Urban feeling relieved because he can now move forward publicly with his own personal life. Other coverage alleges that the country singer was devastated and had privately hoped to reconcile with Kidman.
Neither Kidman nor Reinstein has confirmed that they are dating.

Kidman, 59, and Reinstein, 54, were initially photographed outside her hotel in Portofino, Italy, on July 18. They were later seen relaxing beside the pool at the Belmond Hotel Splendido, where they drank Aperol Spritzes and appeared comfortable in each other’s company.
Photographs obtained by Page Six showed Reinstein playfully lifting a hat from Kidman’s face as they sat together. Kidman wore a blue swimsuit beneath a sheer white top, while Reinstein was dressed in a navy polo shirt and swim shorts.
Reinstein is the founder, chairman and chief investment officer of Regent, a Los Angeles-based global private equity firm established in 2013. The pair were seen together again on July 30, when Reinstein picked Kidman up from Hollywood Burbank Airport in a black Ferrari after she arrived on a flight from New York.
One Report Claims Urban Feels Relieved
A Reality Tea report cited an unnamed insider who claimed Kidman’s apparent closeness with Reinstein had given Urban an unexpected sense of relief. The source alleged that Urban had deliberately kept his own dating life private because he did not want to be seen publicly with another woman before Kidman appeared to move forward.
According to that account, the photographs made him feel more comfortable about eventually being seen with someone else without appearing insensitive toward his former wife. The report also claimed Urban had been cautious after facing criticism surrounding earlier rumors about his personal life.
Other Reports Describe Urban as Devastated

Page Six reported, citing an unnamed source quoted by the Australian magazine New Idea, that Urban was “absolutely devastated” by the photographs.
The source alleged that Urban had continued hoping he and Kidman might reconcile and that seeing her apparently move forward forced him to accept that possibility may have ended. That report also said Kidman’s apparent new chapter could ultimately allow Urban to pursue another relationship himself.
Kidman and Urban Finalized Their Divorce in January
Kidman and Urban finalized their divorce in Nashville on January 6, 2026, approximately three months after she filed to end their 19-year marriage. The former couple share daughters Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith Margaret, 15.
According to court documents obtained by People, Kidman became the children’s primary residential parent, while both parents retained responsibility for major decisions affecting their daughters. Kidman and Urban waived their rights to child and spousal support and agreed to cover their own legal expenses.
The parenting plan also requires both parents to maintain a loving and stable environment and prohibits them from speaking negatively about one another or each other’s relatives in front of their children. Kidman addressed the divorce publicly for the first time in a March interview with Variety.
“What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward,” she said. “Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect. I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be.”
