Brazilian police named Oliver Tree among six people killed after two helicopters collided over Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, June 14.
The crash also killed people tied to music, film, and online entertainment, including Brazilian producer Lucas Brito Chaves Frota and Argentine filmmaker Lucas Vignale, according to CNN Brasil.
Tree’s name drew the biggest reaction in the U.S., but the victim list released by Rio Civil Police also included a rising electronic producer who had been working around Tree’s Brazil visit and a director whose first feature was listed in the 2026 Berlinale program.
The Associated Press reported a more cautious identification status, saying police confirmed Tree was on the passenger list given to aviation authorities but had not yet formally identified the bodies at the time of its report.
Police Listed Six Victims After the Midair Collision
CNN Brasil reported that Rio Civil Police listed six victims: Oliver Tree, Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, Lucas Brito Chaves, pilot Alexandre Souza, and pilot Charles Marsillac. Five people were in one helicopter, while Marsillac was alone in the other aircraft, according to the outlet.
The helicopters collided in the air before falling into a vehicle yard on Avenida das Américas in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes area, CNN Brasil reported, citing preliminary information from firefighters. At least 20 vehicles caught fire after the crash.
The case is being handled by Rio’s 42nd Police Precinct. Brazil’s air accident investigation center, CENIPA, was called to the scene for the initial action, evidence preservation, and damage checks, while ANAC, Brazil’s civil aviation agency, said it was reviewing the status of the aircraft and pilots involved.
AP reported that Rio de Janeiro’s Military Fire Department said all six people aboard the two helicopters were killed. The outlet said officials were investigating the cause of the collision.

Lucas Brito Chaves Frota, known professionally as Lucas Frota, was a Brazilian music producer who had been with Tree in the days before the crash, according to CNN Brasil.
The outlet described Frota as an electronic music producer, mainly in house music, and said he had posted on social media that he made “Oliver Tree sing forró,” referring to the Brazilian music style. CNN Brasil also reported that Frota was Brazilian, lived in Miami, and shared videos of his music and travels.
Hindustan Times reported that Frota had lived in Los Angeles for nearly a decade, began making music as a child, performed at events including Burning Man, and worked as a resident DJ with the Around The Corner collective in Miami.
The outlet also reported that Frota had recorded and produced a DJ set at the foot of Christ the Redeemer in December 2025. In his final social posts, Hindustan Times said he was seen with Tree, Dupe, and MC Tota while the group was believed to be working on music together.

Lucas Vignale, born in Buenos Aires in 1997, built a career across music videos and independent film.
The REGARD festival biography for La Pasión says Vignale started as an editor before moving into directing with a focus on the music industry. The festival page lists his work with artists including Bizarrap, Duki, Nicki Nicole, Milo J, J Balvin, Trueno, Nathy Peluso, and Wos.
Vignale’s music-video work also brought him a major Argentine music award. The Premios Gardel winners page lists Trueno’s “Dance Crip,” directed by El Dorado and Lucas Vignale, as the winner for Mejor Video Clip Corto in 2022.
His film work was moving onto a larger international stage. REGARD says La Pasión won at BAFICI 25 and that Vignale’s first feature, El Tren Fluvial, was set for the Berlinale Perspectives section. The official Berlinale listing names El Tren Fluvial, also titled The River Train, as a 2026 film co-directed by Lucas A. Vignale and Lorenzo Ferro.
Gaspi and Two Pilots Were Also Named
Another passenger listed by CNN Brasil was Gaspar Prim, known online as Gaspi. CNN Brasil described him as an Argentine YouTuber with nearly 7.5 million followers across social platforms.
AP reported that Argentine streaming channel Blender said Gaspar Prim Díaz, also known as Gaspi, was in one of the helicopters. AP listed his age as 23 and said he had more than 2.8 million YouTube followers.
CNN Brasil identified the two pilots as Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac. The outlet reported that Marsillac was alone in one of the helicopters and quoted a person close to him who described him as experienced, serious, and committed to flying.
The cause of the collision remained under investigation. CNN Brasil reported that CENIPA investigators were collecting and preserving evidence from the scene, while ANAC said the investigation into the causes would be conducted by the aviation accident investigation center.
