Pamela Anderson helped transform Baywatch into an international television phenomenon, but she has not been invited to participate in Fox’s upcoming revival.
The actress revealed that no one connected with the new series had contacted her about reprising C.J.
Parker or making a cameo. Anderson said she knows little about the production beyond what has been reported publicly.
“No one’s reached out to me. I don’t know much about it,” she told Deadline. She later added, “I have no plans of going back to Baywatch.”
Producers Previously Spoke With Anderson’s Sons
Anderson said people connected with the revival had apparently discussed a possible producing role with her sons, Brandon Thomas Lee and Dylan Jagger Lee. Anderson said she was unsure exactly what happened but indicated that the parties had been unable to reach a shared creative understanding.
Although Anderson remains grateful for the five seasons she spent running across the beach in the show’s signature red swimsuit, returning to that world is not part of her current career plan. She wished the new team well and appeared comfortable remaining outside a series built around the show that made her one of the most recognizable television stars of the 1990s.
She Still Looks Back Fondly on Playing C.J. Parker
Anderson joined Baywatch as lifeguard C.J. Parker in 1992 and remained with the series until 1997. She described the original production as a great job and joked that reporting to work on a beach every day was hardly a burden.
The role brought her worldwide exposure and became inseparable from her public image. She said every stage of her career contributed to the opportunities she has now, even as she acknowledged that repeatedly revisiting C.J. would not help her move toward the work she wants to pursue next.
Anderson Wants Roles That Audiences Do Not Expect
Anderson wants to continue experimenting with characters unlike the screen persona audiences associated with her for decades. Anderson said she is considering several possibilities, including another theater production, and wants her next decisions to feel bold rather than convenient.
Her recent career reflects that approach. Anderson received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance as an aging Las Vegas entertainer in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl. She later appeared opposite Liam Neeson in The Naked Gun and has continued accepting projects designed to challenge expectations about her acting.
Anderson previously returned to the stage in Broadway’s Chicago, playing Roxie Hart in 2022. Her comments suggest another theatrical role is more appealing to her than stepping back into C.J. Parker’s familiar red swimsuit.
Fox Is Building ‘Baywatch’ Around a New Generation
Fox’s new Baywatch is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 with a largely new cast and updated storylines centered on Southern California’s shoreline. Stephen Amell will play an adult Hobie Buchannon, now following his father Mitch’s path as a Baywatch captain.
His life changes when Charlie, the daughter he did not know he had, arrives hoping to continue the family’s lifeguarding legacy. Jessica Belkin plays Charlie, while Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck and Brooks Nader are among the new cast members.
David Chokachi will reprise his original role as Cody Madison. The character now operates a beachfront bar and serves as a mentor to the younger lifeguards while occasionally returning to rescue duty.
