Prince Harry is back in the U.K., but a hoped-for reunion between King Charles and his California-based grandchildren is still not guaranteed.
People reported that Harry and King Charles are still working behind the scenes to find time for the monarch to see Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Page Six reported that the meeting remains “up in the air,” with security concerns still shaping whether Meghan Markle and the children can join Harry during the trip.
The Reunion Depends on Security and Timing
Harry is in the U.K. for public engagements, but Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet have not traveled with him. People reported that the family had hoped to bring the children back to Britain, but the plans changed because of concerns over security arrangements.
People reported that royal accommodations had been offered, but Harry’s spokesperson said the central question was whether “appropriate and proportionate protective security” would be provided throughout the full visit, not just on a royal estate.
CBS News reported that Harry linked the family rift to his U.K. security battle and said he could not see a safe way to bring Meghan and the children back at that point.
People reported that a spokesperson for Harry had no comment, and that the outlet also reached out to Buckingham that has not confirmed a meeting.
Charles Has Had Limited Time With Harry’s Children
King Charles has had very little time with his youngest grandchildren. Archie was born in the U.K., while Lilibet was born in California after Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties and moved to the United States.
People reported that Charles has met Lilibet only once, during the family’s 2022 visit to Britain. Archie and Lilibet have not returned to the U.K. since that year.
Harry has publicly said he wants to repair his relationship with his family. In a 2025 BBC interview, he said he would “love reconciliation” and argued that there was no point in continuing to fight.
