Ray J says he is recovering after a celebrity MMA fight ended with a knockout and a hospital stay.
The R&B singer and TV personality was knocked out by YouTuber Supa Hot Fire during Adin Ross’ Brand Risk event at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Afterward, Ray J shared a brief update from a hospital bed, telling fans he was “getting better.”
Entertainment Weekly reported that Ray J also said he still planned to see fans at his May 29 performance at the Pete Be Center in San Jose. His update came after TMZ reported that he was in a Las Vegas hospital while doctors checked him for a possible concussion and monitored a heart issue.

The fight took place during Adin Ross’ Brand Risk 14 event at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. MMA Fighting reported that Ray J started aggressively in the first round before Supa Hot Fire, whose real name is DeWayne Stevenson, changed the momentum early in the second.
Stevenson knocked Ray J out less than 30 seconds into the second round, according to MMA Fighting. The clip spread quickly online because the finish was sudden, and because Ray J had already spoken publicly this year about serious health concerns.
TMZ Reported Doctors Were Checking Him for a Concussion
TMZ reported that Ray J checked himself into a Las Vegas hospital about two hours after the fight. Sources told the outlet that doctors were investigating whether he had a concussion and were also monitoring an issue with his heart beating slower.
That made the story more serious than a typical viral fight clip. Ray J’s own message was short, but it gave fans a direct update from him after the hospital photos began circulating.
The Fight Came After Earlier Health Concerns
The timing drew extra attention because Ray J had made alarming comments about his health earlier this year. Entertainment Weekly noted that he previously claimed he did not have long to live, while PEOPLE reported that he had discussed heart problems after being hospitalized with pneumonia in January.
Those earlier statements should be handled carefully because they are Ray J’s own public claims, not a new medical diagnosis from this fight. Still, they explain why fans reacted strongly when a knockout was followed by a hospital stay.
Ray J Said He Still Plans to Perform
Ray J did not give a long explanation from the hospital. Entertainment Weekly reported that he wrote, “Getting better. I’ll see y’all on Friday.”
The update does not answer every medical question, and it does not erase the concern around the knockout. It does make his public message clear for now: he says he is improving, and he still plans to show up for fans in San Jose.
