Richard Gere celebrated his 77th birthday with party hats, a family hug and a short message from his wife, Alejandra Silva.

Silva shared three photos on September 1, one day after Gere’s August 31 birthday. “No one I rather spend my life with, happy birthday, I love you, we love you,” she wrote.

The photos show Gere and Silva embracing before their 6-year-old son James runs toward them and joins the hug. A third image shows Silva sitting outside with two dogs.

Gere reshared his wife’s post to his Instagram Stories, added a jazz rendition of “Happy Birthday” and wrote, “I love you.”

Gere and Silva were both wearing birthday hats as they embraced in the first image. James approached them in another shot and was in his parents’ arms by the next one, with Gere smiling toward the camera.

The birthday tribute was considerably shorter than the message Silva posted when Gere turned 76 in 2025. Last year, she wrote at length about the support he gives their family and shared photos from a celebration with friends and relatives at their home in Spain.

This time, Silva kept the caption to a single sentence and three photographs. Gere’s response was shorter still: “I love you.”

Silva Had Shared Another Family Getaway Weeks Earlier

The birthday photos followed another set of family images Silva shared in August. Those pictures showed Gere, Silva and their children spending time near the sea.

Silva wrote that she wished she could preserve some of the moments from the trip and described having little to do beyond spending time together by the water.

Spanish outlets speculated about where the family had traveled, but Silva and Gere did not identify the destination in the post. HOLA reported that the getaway came during a break in Gere’s work on his upcoming film Asymmetry.
