Ross Lynch arrived at the New York premiere of Heartland wearing a gold wedding band. When PEOPLE asked whether he was married, the 30-year-old actor answered directly: “Yes, yes I am.”

Lynch said he wasn’t trying to hide the relationship. His wife is “not very fond of celebrity,” he explained, and he wants to respect her feelings about the attention that comes with his career.

He did not identify her or disclose a wedding date during the November 5 interview at Metrograph. He said things were going well and described the time he had recently devoted to his private life as gratifying.

The former Austin & Ally star has spent much of the past year concentrating on music with his brother Rocky in their band, The Driver Era. The brothers previously performed together in R5, before Lynch balanced their newer project with roles including Harvey Kinkle in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

On June 28, Lynch returned to Instagram after roughly a year away, sharing photographs and videos of his guitar, recording setup, dogs and other everyday moments. His caption asked followers what he had missed. One commenter turned the question back on him, adding a ring emoji to suggest that he had news of his own.

“Hahaha A LOT,” Lynch replied, adding a shushing emoji. He left the exchange there, without explaining what had changed.

An August 21 post offered another glimpse of the band. In one photograph, Lynch sat at a brunch table with another person, drawing in a small sketchbook. The gold ring was visible on his finger.

Heartland Brings Lynch Back to Acting Alongside Jessica Chastain

In writer-director Shana Feste’s thriller, Lynch plays Jace Jacobs, the boyfriend of missing country singer Charlie Heart, played by Carter Faith. Jessica Chastain stars as Charlie’s aunt, former country star Misty Jones, who returns to Nashville to investigate. Netflix identifies Jace as one of the people Misty questions during her search, alongside Charlie’s manager, Roy Combs, played by Garrett Hedlund.

Lynch told PEOPLE that the script drew him back to a film set, as did the opportunity to work on a woman-led project. He remembered Chastain giving him an approving nod as he settled into the work, a small gesture he found reassuring after time away from acting.

The cast also includes Jennifer Nettles as country singer Winnie Jo Lean, along with John Hawkes and Paul Sparks. Feste previously explored the Nashville music world in Country Strong, but this film puts a disappearance and an investigation at the center of its story.

Lynch contributes music as well as a performance. He sings Heartbreak Country on the film’s 15-track soundtrack, according to MusicRow. The album also includes recordings by Chastain, Nettles, Faith, Carly Pearce and Margo Price. Both the film and its soundtrack arrive on November 13, 2026, through Netflix and Netflix Music, respectively.
