When Kourtney Kardashian’s publicist asked about a magazine story claiming she and Travis Barker were living apart and splitting up, she gave an unexpected instruction: “Tell them to print it.”

The reality star, 47, recounted the exchange to friend Simon Huck during the November 5 episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians. “They know it is not true,” she said, according to PEOPLE.

Kardashian and Barker, 50, married in May 2022, following their October 2021 engagement. They share son Rocky, who turned 3 on November 1.

Huck had raised another perception of their marriage during the October 8 season premiere. After he said some relatives believed Barker was keeping her away from the family, Kardashian said any decision to take that distance was her own, as E! News reported.

Kardashian Traces the Split Story to a TikTok Video

Kardashian accused a TikTok creator of inventing stories and said the magazine had picked up the claim from a video. Huck broadened the conversation to conspiracy theories about the family and AI-generated videos circulating online, according to Us Weekly.

“And people believe it!” Kardashian replied. “It’s so bizarre.” The published accounts of their exchange did not identify the magazine or the TikTok creator.

They Kept Separate Homes During the Early Months of Their Marriage

Barker was already considering changes to his home when he spoke with Architectural Digest in May 2022. He planned to convert his home studio into a bunk room so Kardashian’s children would have a comfortable place to stay.

That October, Kardashian explained on Amanda Hirsch’s Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast that they still maintained separate homes a block apart. Their children were accustomed to their own rooms, and the couple wanted to give everyone time to adjust. They gathered for family dinners at Barker’s house on Sundays, as TV Insider later documented.

In scenes filmed before Rocky’s birth and broadcast on June 13, 2024, Kardashian outlined their next step: moving into Barker’s house while renovating hers. The arrangement would allow them to live together with the baby while construction continued.

The Renovation Will Give Their Blended Family More Space

During the February 20, 2025, episode, Kardashian expanded on what she wanted from the project. Beyond accommodating everyone, she wanted the renovated property to feel like a fresh home they could enter together. She also expected the children to retain rooms at both houses, according to OK!‘s coverage.

Alongside Rocky, the family includes Kardashian’s children Mason, Penelope and Reign, whom she shares with Scott Disick. Barker shares son Landon and daughter Alabama with former wife Shanna Moakler and has also helped raise stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya.

On the November 5 episode, Kardashian toured the property and looked ahead to cooking, movie nights and barbecues once the work was finished. “I want to make it feel magical for everyone,” she said.
