Sammy Hagar sent David Lee Roth a public message after several of Roth’s upcoming tour dates disappeared from his official schedule.
Roth removed most of his listed summer dates this week, with his August 7 appearance at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip remaining on his official tour page. No explanation has been posted by Roth or his representatives.
Hagar said he heard about the cancellations from Michael Anthony, the former Van Halen bassist who now performs with him. He recorded a direct message to Roth, saying he hoped there was not a physical problem behind the change.
The Red Rocker then invited Roth to appear during his September residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas. “Come on, join us,” Hagar said. “Sing a couple songs, M.C. the damn show.”

Hagar posted the video after Anthony called him about Roth’s canceled shows. “I wanna say from the bottom of my heart, I’m sorry,” Hagar said, according to Pollstar. “I hope you’re well. I hope there’s not a physical problem.”
He said he and Anthony had enjoyed seeing Roth perform Van Halen songs again. Hagar named Roth, Anthony, Alex Van Halen and the late Eddie Van Halen while saying the musicians tied to that history “cannot be replaced.”
“When you’re ready to carry on, you go, brother,” Hagar said. “Mike and I support you.”
Hagar Invited Roth to His Las Vegas Residency
Hagar used the same video to offer Roth a spot at his September Las Vegas shows. “Come to Vegas for the residency in September,” he said. “Come on, join us. Sing a couple songs, M.C. the damn show.”
Hagar is scheduled to return to Dolby Live at Park MGM with The Best of All Worlds residency on select dates from September 18 through September 26. Anthony, Joe Satriani, Kenny Aronoff and Rai Thistlethwayte are part of the current lineup.
The show draws from Hagar’s solo career, Montrose, Chickenfoot and his years in Van Halen. Hagar has also performed Roth-era Van Halen songs with Anthony and Satriani during the Best of All Worlds run.
Roth’s Official Site Lists Sturgis as His Remaining Date
Roth began his 2026 Don’t Love Me, Rent Me tour in April after returning to regular live performances. Blabbermouth reported that the tour had once been listed through early September before most dates were removed.
Pollstar reported that Roth’s upcoming appearances were taken down on Thursday, with only the August 7 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally performance left on the schedule. Affected dates included shows in Louisville, Menlo Park, Laughlin and other cities.
Some outlets have pointed to weak ticket sales as a possible factor, but Roth has not publicly said why the dates were removed. No health issue has been announced.
Hagar and Roth Have Spent Decades Linked by Van Halen
Roth fronted Van Halen during the band’s original rise and left after the 1984 album cycle. Hagar replaced him in 1985 and remained with the group through the band’s next four studio albums.
The two singers later shared the 2002 Sam and Dave tour, though they performed separate sets. Their public relationship has often been tense, with both men trading comments over the years.
Guitar World noted that Hagar’s latest message was different in tone from many past exchanges between the two singers. This time, Hagar addressed Roth directly, said he was sorry about the cancellations and offered him a place in the Vegas show.
Roth Has Not Responded Publicly
Roth had not publicly answered Hagar’s invitation when the video began circulating. His official tour page still lists the Sturgis Buffalo Chip appearance on August 7.
Hagar’s remaining 2026 Vegas dates are scheduled for September 18, 19, 23, 25 and 26. The residency is billed as The Best of All Worlds at Dolby Live.
