Scarlett Johansson has earned another Five-Timers Club honor, this time for reading a weather map. Al Roker surprised the actress with a bright orange robe on November 5 to celebrate her fifth turn helping deliver the forecast on NBC’s TODAY.

Johansson, 41, had stopped by for a conversation with Savannah Guthrie about Paper Tiger. Roker borrowed the idea for his gift from Saturday Night Live, where repeat hosts receive a special jacket after reaching the milestone.

The robe featured a large number five and the TODAY logo on the front, with a lightning bolt across the back. Johansson hugged Roker and slipped into the garment before heading over to the weather map.

“Can I wear this out?” she asked, according to PEOPLE. Roker assured her she could, while Guthrie complimented the look.

Johansson Takes Her New Robe to the Weather Map

Johansson began with Florida, describing its warm temperatures as “roasty toasty,” before pointing out pleasant conditions along the Gulf Coast. The Western Plains offered a colder prospect, as Entertainment Weekly documented.

When they reached the Northeast, Roker explained that the approaching rain was welcome after a dry spell. Johansson agreed, then helped finish the segment with his familiar transition to viewers’ local forecasts.

“This was the best fifth weather ever,” Roker told her. It was a small field of contenders.

Her Weather Tradition Began When Roker Had Laryngitis

Johansson’s first forecast happened on November 27, 2012, when she was visiting the show to promote Hitchcock. Roker was struggling with laryngitis, and she volunteered to take over the weather report, as TheWrap reported at the time.

He stood beside her holding an umbrella during the outdoor segment. Johansson enthusiastically read through the conditions, although her gestures did not always land on the places she was describing. She finished with a kick and jazz hands, according to International Business Times.

She returned to the job in April 2022 and twice in 2023. During the March 16, 2023, appearance, Roker declared it a tradition. Johansson was less enthusiastic about the temperatures: the Midwest’s freezing conditions prompted her to suggest staying in, while readings in the 90s in Texas struck her as too hot. She joined him again that November.

Her SNL Induction Came With a Jacket and a Familiar Jingle

Johansson reached the original Five-Timers milestone on March 11, 2017. During her Saturday Night Live opening monologue, Kenan Thompson announced the jacket and Kate McKinnon helped her put it on.

The ceremony followed a deliberately unhelpful tribute. Thompson had assembled highlights from Johansson’s previous appearances that mostly showcased himself. When Johansson and McKinnon tried to introduce a clip from their film Rough Night, the screen instead showed Thompson in Fat Albert.

Thompson and McKinnon then launched into what they presented as the club’s solemn song. Johansson joined in before recognizing the tune from Subway’s advertising jingle.

Her seventh hosting appearance came on May 17, 2025, for the Season 50 finale, with Bad Bunny as musical guest, according to Peacock. That opening featured another musical performance: Johansson and the cast sang a version of Billy Joel’s Piano Man reflecting on the show’s anniversary season.
