Taylor Lautner and his wife Tay may be about to make family introductions much more confusing.
The couple is considering Taylor as a possible name for their first child, a baby girl due later this year. Tay confirmed the name has not been ruled out during her August 26 appearance on Call Her Daddy.
“It may be in the mix,” she said when Alex Cooper asked whether they had seriously considered giving their daughter the same first name as both parents, according to PEOPLE.
That would leave Taylor Lautner, Taylor “Tay” Lautner and their daughter sharing the same first and last name. The couple has not made a final choice yet, and Tay said the answer will come when the baby arrives.
Taylor Is One of Several Names They Are Considering
Cooper went straight to the question that has followed the Lautners through much of Tay’s pregnancy: would they actually name the baby Taylor?
Tay did not shut it down. She said the name is still on the list and joked that fans have become invested enough in the idea that she could get “canceled” if they choose something else.
The couple has narrowed the list to a handful of options. Tay said they currently have about three to five names under consideration and described the decision as real pressure rather than an easy running joke.
Just Jared reported that the pair had discussed the name before learning they were having a girl. Tay said they used to joke that, if the baby were a boy, they could name him Taylor and call him T.J.
The Pregnancy Announcement Already Played With the Name Joke

The possibility did not appear out of nowhere during the podcast. When Taylor and Tay announced the pregnancy on March 26, the caption already leaned into the same-name setup.
The couple posed together in a grassy field, with Tay holding sonogram images while her husband kissed her stomach. “What’s better than two Taylor Lautners?” they wrote.
Tay was born Taylor Dome and took Lautner’s surname when they married in November 2022. Friends have previously used “Boy Tay” and “Girl Tay” to tell them apart when both are around.
They Learned Their First Baby Is a Girl in June

The Lautners did not know the baby’s sex when they first shared the pregnancy news. On June 7, they posted a video showing them sitting together at a laptop as they clicked through the results.
After several prompts, the word “girl” appeared on the screen. Taylor threw his arms into the air while Tay covered her mouth and started crying before the two embraced.
The actor later said becoming a girl dad had long been one of his dreams. The couple captioned the reveal, “Our little secret is now yours.”
Tay Is Already Thinking About Privacy
The baby-name conversation came during a broader interview about pregnancy and what changes when their daughter arrives. Tay has already thought about how much of the child’s life she wants to share online.
During a June appearance on Matt and Abby Howard’s Unplanned Podcast, she said she currently expects to keep her daughter off social media because of privacy concerns. She left room for that decision to change.
That caution also shaped how Tay handled the pregnancy announcement. On Call Her Daddy, she said she worried someone might reveal the pregnancy before she and Taylor could announce it themselves, an anxiety she connected to photos from their wedding being published before they wanted them out.
The couple has still shared selected milestones on its own terms. Tay posted photos from a pink, tea-party-inspired baby shower on August 19, thanking Jaclyn Hill for organizing the celebration for their daughter.
