Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Madison Square Garden wedding is now getting complaints from some guests who say the reception was less polished than the first wave of glowing reports suggested.

AllSides republished Alison Boshoff’s Daily Mail column, which said guests complained about “tacky” and “chaotic” scenes inside the July 3 wedding. The complaints included champagne allegedly running dry “really early” and long lines for buffet food.

The Daily Mail also pointed to miffed A-listers waiting in buffet queues, limited seating and a reported guest-ranking system. The column described a different version of the night than the more polished accounts that followed the ceremony.

TMZ separately said the reception did not have a formal sit-down dinner. Guests lined up at food stations and then looked for places to sit, with one source describing the dinner setup as “a bit of a s*** show.”

Guests Complained About Buffet Lines and Limited Seating

The Daily Mail column said some guests complained about long queues for buffet food, while TMZ said there was no traditional seated dinner for the roughly 1,000-person celebration.

TMZ’s source said there were multiple buffet-style stations, but guests still had to stand in line before finding a place to eat. The outlet said some guests ended up eating on their feet because there were not enough seats available.

The same report said nobody went hungry. Guests had pasta, sushi, chicken, salads, filet mignon, Chinese, Italian and American food options, with staff serving food onto plates at the stations.

The Buffet Was Large, but the Setup Drew Complaints

The problem was not the amount of food. TMZ described a large spread, and People said the reception included food stations with Italian fare, sushi, steak, burgers, fries and seafood, plus bars throughout the venue.

The dessert table was also a major part of the reception. People said Swift and Kelce served about 30 custom cakes with 3D toppers, along with Pop-Tarts, cookies, pastries and other sweets.

The Arena Setting Came Under Fire

The Daily Mail column also criticized the stadium setting. The report said some guests felt the wedding could not fully hide the fact that it was taking place inside Madison Square Garden.

Other guests described the room differently. Reuters said attendees described an intimate garden inside the arena, with self-written vows and a performance by Stevie Nicks.

The venue itself was part of the spectacle from the beginning. Madison Square Garden gave the wedding privacy, space and security, but the size of the event also made food lines and seating harder to hide.

Other Guests Gave Warmer Accounts of the Reception

People’s reception report included a much more positive account of the night. A source said Swift and Kelce tried to speak with as many guests as possible and kept thanking people for attending.

The same report described food stations, bars throughout the venue and a dessert table loaded with custom cakes and sweets. It also said the couple personally chose parts of the menu, including items tied to their favorite foods.

Reuters also reported that guests described the ceremony as personal despite the large venue. Giant screens at the arena later displayed the message “JUST&T MARRIED.”

The No-Phone Rule Limited What Guests Could Share

The wedding was tightly controlled from the start. Reuters said social media posts from guests were limited because of a no-phone policy, and the couple had not released official photos immediately after the ceremony.

TMZ also said security went beyond ordinary phone collection. Guests were scanned for Meta smart glasses and other hidden cameras that could record photos or video from inside the wedding.
