The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles now have an official pizza place in Santa Monica.
Paramount opened the world’s first official Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizzeria on June 20 at 1444 Third Street Promenade, turning one of the franchise’s longest-running jokes into a real restaurant.
NBC Los Angeles reported that the restaurant serves slices and whole pies, sells exclusive merchandise and was built around the 1980s-era world of Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael and April O’Neil.
Paramount describes the 3,000-square-foot space as an immersive TMNT restaurant, but the company is also pitching the food seriously. The pizza program was developed with Brooklyn pizzaiolo Angelo Womack, whose résumé includes work with Roberta’s, Scarr’s Pizza, Mama’s Boy, Glide Pizza and Manos.
The Turtles’ Pizza Obsession Is Now a Real Restaurant
The Santa Monica restaurant leans into the franchise’s New York City roots, with décor tied to the Turtles’ underground world, the original cartoon era and the characters’ long-running love of pizza. NBC Los Angeles reported that character appearances were part of the opening-day celebration.
“For more than 40 years, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has inspired a passionate fan community across generations, and our TMNT Pizzeria brings that fandom to life,” Josh Silverman, President of Global Products & Experiences at Paramount, said in the company’s announcement. “The Turtles’ are synonymous with pizza, so we wanted to create an immersive experience that celebrates the spirit of the franchise that audiences have embraced for decades.”
The Menu Has Shredder’s Revenge and Rocksteady’s Meat Smash
Paramount said Womack and the restaurant team worked on the dough, fermentation, bake and slice structure, along with recreating New York water conditions. Womack said the goal was to make the pizza stand on its own for TMNT fans and regular pizza customers.
The menu includes Cowabunga Cheese, Shredder’s Revenge and Rocksteady’s Meat Smash. Cowabunga Cheese is made with fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, parmesan and olive oil, while Shredder’s Revenge adds pepperoni, jalapeños and Mike’s Hot Honey. Rocksteady’s Meat Smash includes Italian sausage, bacon, pepperoni, ham and prosciutto.
NBC Los Angeles also noted Raphael’s Pepperoni Bash, an extra-pepperoni pie named for one of the four Turtles. Time Out Los Angeles reported that slices average $8.50, while full pies range from $39 for Cowabunga Cheese to $54 for Splinter’s Supreme or Rocksteady’s Meat Smash.
Fans Can Eat, Shop and Play on Third Street Promenade
The restaurant is also built as a fan stop, not only a pizza counter. Paramount said guests can play free arcade games during daytime hours, while evenings bring happy hour specials and a cocktail program for older fans.
The retail section includes exclusive Santa Monica merchandise such as graphic tees, hoodies, lanyards, tote bags and custom skate decks. NBC Los Angeles also reported that pizzeria-themed items, including tees and lunchboxes, are available at the location.
TMNT Pizzeria is located at 1444 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Paramount lists the hours as Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
