Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter has legally changed her name from Suri Cruise to Suri Noelle.
Voter-registration records obtained by People show that the 20-year-old registered in Pennsylvania under the new name during her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University. Noelle is Holmes’ middle name.
Suri had already begun using the name publicly before starting college. She was identified as Suri Noelle in the program for her June 2024 graduation from New York City’s LaGuardia High School and in an earlier school-theater production.
The location and date of the formal name-change process have not been disclosed.
Voter Records Confirm Her Name Is Suri Noelle
Suri registered to vote in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in October 2024, shortly after beginning her first year at Carnegie Mellon. The registration lists her as Suri Noelle, according to People.
Pennsylvania’s voter-registration guidance instructs residents to update their records when their legal name changes and to bring identification bearing the new name when voting.
Page Six, which first reported the records, found no name-change filing for Suri in Allegheny County. The outlet suggested that the process could have taken place before she moved from New York to Pittsburgh, but no filing location has been confirmed.
Representatives for Cruise and Holmes did not comment on the report.
She First Used Noelle Before Her High School Graduation

Suri attracted attention for the name in June 2024 when her LaGuardia High School graduation program identified her as Suri Noelle. She had also used the name earlier that year while appearing in the school’s production of the jukebox musical Head Over Heels, according to the Los Angeles Times.
At the time, the school programs established only that she had chosen to use Noelle publicly. They did not confirm whether she had formally changed her surname.
Holmes attended the Manhattan graduation and was photographed celebrating with her daughter. Holmes and Cruise divorced in 2012, and Suri subsequently grew up primarily with her mother in New York.

Holmes rarely discusses Suri publicly but addressed her daughter’s move to college during a 2024 interview with Town & Country. “I’m proud of my daughter,” she said. “Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy.”
Holmes described college as a period of new beginnings and self-discovery, saying that remembering her own experience at that age made her happy for Suri. She responded more directly in December 2024 when a report claimed that Suri had gained access to a trust fund connected to Cruise after turning 18.
“Completely false,” Holmes wrote over a screenshot of the story. “Daily Mail you can stop making stuff up.” She added “Enough” in the post’s caption. Suri has also contributed vocals to two movies directed by Holmes: Alone Together in 2022 and Rare Objects in 2023.
Suri Is Building Stage Credits Under Her New Name
Suri is studying musical theater at Carnegie Mellon’s School of Drama and has continued performing under the name Suri Noelle.
She appeared in the cast of Atlantic: A Scottish Story during the university’s Impulse Festival in May. She was also reported to have played Angel in a March staged reading of Cosmic Microwave Background at Pittsburgh’s New Hazlett Theater.
Suri is now part of Midsummer!, a modern-verse adaptation of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Tony Award winner Jeffrey Whitty. The production, directed by Kim Weild in partnership with Play On Shakespeare, will be presented at Pittsburgh’s Trust Arts Education Center on July 31 and August 1 before traveling to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
