Zendaya walked the Emmys carpet alone. Tom Holland waited until everyone was inside to make his appearance.

The Spider-Man star quietly joined Zendaya at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 14, skipping the carpet before cameras eventually caught him seated with her during the ceremony. Just Jared reported that Holland was also photographed inside the show with Ayo Edebiri.

Zendaya had considerably more official business that night. She was attending as both a presenter and a nominee, returning to the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category for the third and final season of Euphoria.

Once Marcello Hernández noticed the couple in the audience, he abandoned any attempt to play it cool and invited Zendaya and “Spider-Man” to dinner at his house.

Holland Stayed Off the Carpet Until the Cameras Found Him Inside

Zendaya arrived in a custom Prada gown covered in crystals and beading, with stylist Law Roach behind the look. Holland did not accompany her through the photographers.

That changed once the broadcast was underway. Cameras showed the two seated together, and photographs from inside the theater captured Holland socializing with other attendees instead of treating the evening like a conventional couple red-carpet appearance.

PEOPLE described the night as a rare public appearance for the pair. They have spent much of 2026 promoting projects together, but awards-show appearances as a couple remain comparatively unusual.

Marcello Hernández Called Him ‘Spider-Man’ From the Stage

Holland’s low-key entrance did not survive Marcello Hernández’s presenting bit. While introducing Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, the Saturday Night Live comedian started acknowledging celebrities he was excited to see in the room.

When he reached Zendaya, Hernández called her “a beast” and admitted he had failed at trying to act casual around her. Then he extended an invitation, Zendaya and “Spider-Man” were welcome to come to his house for dinner.

The camera cut to the couple as they laughed along. Hernández kept the routine moving by addressing other stars in the room, including Harrison Ford and Oscar Isaac, before Hiro Murai won the directing Emmy for Widow’s Bay.

Zendaya Was Chasing a Third Acting Emmy for ‘Euphoria’

The night carried more weight for Zendaya than the surprise audience cameo suggested. She was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for playing Rue Bennett in the third and final season of Euphoria.

The Television Academy’s official record lists it as her sixth overall Emmy nomination. Two of those previous nominations became acting wins, she took Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2020 and again in 2022.

Those victories had already put her in the record book. The Academy notes that the second made her the youngest performer and first Black actress to win that category twice.

Her Emmy Night Ended Without a Third Win

Zendaya also worked during the telecast, presenting Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series to Jean Smart for Hacks. Holland remained in the audience while she moved between nominee and presenter duties.

The couple was also seen speaking with Chase Infiniti during a break, while Holland and Zendaya crossed paths with Ayo Edebiri inside the theater.  Zendaya’s own category came later. Rhea Seehorn won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Pluribus.
