Travis Kelce’s old answer about Taylor Swift and Katy Perry has resurfaced with a much funnier ending after his wedding to Swift.
The Daily Mail highlighted a 2016 clip in which Kelce was asked to play “Kiss, Marry, Kill” with Swift, Perry and Ariana Grande. At the time, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end picked Swift as the kiss and Perry as the person he would marry.
TThe Guardian reported that Swift and Kelce married at Madison Square Garden on July 3, with Adam Sandler officiating and their siblings Austin Swift and Jason Kelce serving in the key wedding-party roles.
Kelce Picked Katy Perry as His “Marry” Choice in 2016
The clip came from Kelce’s 2016 media run, when he was promoting the E! dating show Catching Kelce. InStyle reported that Kelce was asked to choose between Swift, Perry and Grande during a game of “Kiss, Marry, Kill.”
Kelce made clear that he did not actually want to “kill” anyone and called that part of the game “messed up.” He still answered the prompt, ranking Grande last, choosing Swift for the kiss and Perry for marriage.
Kelce and Swift’s relationship was still years away.
Swift Later Seemed to Reference the Game in “So High School”
The old answer gained a second life after Swift released The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology. InStyle reported that fans connected “So High School” to the 2016 clip through its “marry, kiss or kill” phrasing.
The lyric made the old interview feel less like an awkward archive find and more like an inside joke Swift had folded into a love song.

Swift didn’t hold that 2016 “marry” choice against Perry. The two singers proved they are on great terms when Perry supported Swift on Eras Tour show in Sydney in 2024, and even sharing a viral backstage moment.
PEOPLE reported that Perry captioned the post, “Got to see an old friend shine tonight,” and included clips from the concert.
From a Failed Friendship Bracelet to a Madison Square Garden Wedding
The Guardian reported that Kelce first tried to get Swift’s attention after attending her Eras Tour stop at Arrowhead Stadium, then talked about his failed friendship-bracelet attempt on New Heights.
The Guardian reported that the ceremony took place at Madison Square Garden, where screens outside the venue displayed a “JUST&T MARRIED!” message. Guests included celebrities from music, film and sports, while phones were reportedly banned inside the venue.
