Zendaya turned the New York premiere of The Odyssey into another major method-dressing moment, and this one had been waiting in the wings for years.
People reported that the actress wore a white Matières Fécales gown with dramatic angel wings and a feather-inspired train at the film’s New York City premiere on Tuesday, July 14.
E! News reported that the look had been picked out by longtime stylist Law Roach more than two years earlier.
The Winged Look Matched Her Odyssey Role

Zendaya plays Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and war, in The Odyssey.
The dress featured an asymmetrical strapless neckline, a feathered train and large sculptural wings. She completed the look with Chopard diamond earrings, a tousled fishtail braid, soft natural makeup and white sculptural-heel pumps.
People described the gown as “ethereal,” while Vogue noted that the minimal makeup and textured braid let the dramatic wings carry the full visual impact.
The New York premiere look also continued Zendaya’s reputation for turning film promotion into a visual extension of the role, the way she previously did with the tennis-inspired Challengers tour and sci-fi looks for Dune.

The premiere also brought out major costars including Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Matt Damon and Lupita Nyong’o.
Tom Holland, who plays Telemachus in the film, also attended in an all-black look.

People reported that Zendaya was seen earlier the same day in a nude Pamela Rolland gown described as an antique gold pleated silk chiffon Grecian look.
She also wore a gold-accented Alberta Ferretti dress with gladiator-inspired heels during the New York press stop. Harper’s Bazaar reported that the look came from Alberta Ferretti’s Spring 2008 collection and was paired with knee-high Sophia Webster gladiator sandals.
The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, opens in theaters July 17.
