Aaron Rodgers is giving his wife, Brittani, significant credit for helping him reconnect with family members after years of distance.
During an NFL Network interview with Kyle Brandt, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback said conversations within his marriage helped him become more open to repairing those relationships.
Rodgers said getting married created opportunities for conversations that changed how he viewed the possibility of reconnecting with his relatives.
Rodgers emphasized that Brittani supported him throughout the process without pressuring him to reconcile. The renewed family contact developed privately over several years before he began sharing photographs of the progress publicly.
Marriage Helped Rodgers Consider Reconciliation
“A big part of it was getting married and having those conversations with my wife that allowed me to kind of open up to the possibility of coming together,” he said, according to People.
He credited her love and support while he worked through the situation himself. Rodgers called the repaired relationships a “beautiful addition” to his life and said he had to give his wife “a lot of credit.”
“Not that she was pushing me, ’cause she never was,” he explained. “But just the way that she loves and supports me. Having her by my side during this process has been really special.”
The Reunion Developed Over Several Years
Rodgers said conversations with his family had been unfolding for approximately two years, showing that the reconciliation did not begin with the photographs he eventually posted online.
Biographer Ian O’Connor previously reported that Rodgers and his father, Ed Rodgers, spoke at a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe in 2023 after years without direct contact. That encounter reportedly helped open the door to broader communication.
The progress became more visible in April 2026, when Rodgers was inducted into the inaugural Pleasant Valley High School Athletics Hall of Fame in Chico, California.
His parents, Ed and Darla Rodgers, attended the ceremony. Rodgers recognized them during his speech, and a photographer at the event said the quarterback appeared happy while talking and sitting with them.
Rodgers later spent a long weekend in Nashville with his parents, his older brother Luke, Luke’s wife and their two children. “So I got to be an uncle,” he told Brandt. “It’s really special.”
Family Photos Made the Progress Public

In July, Rodgers posted an Instagram carousel showing him embracing his mother, posing beside his father and spending time with Luke and the younger members of the family. Another bonding week,” he wrote in the caption, adding the hashtag “#fam.”
The photographs included Rodgers helping Luke assemble a unicorn toy and spending time with children identified in reports as his niece and nephew. Rodgers’ younger brother Jordan did not appear in the photographs. Jordan and his wife, JoJo Fletcher, both reportedly liked the post, while Aaron and Jordan were also following each other on Instagram.
Rodgers Said the Public Narrative Had Continued Too Long
The family estrangement became widely known in 2016 when Jordan discussed it during his appearance on The Bachelorette. Aaron later addressed parts of the conflict in interviews and his Netflix documentary series Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, but he generally resisted explaining the private disagreements in detail.
He maintained that boundary during his conversation with Brandt. “I’ve been very closed off about that part of my life, and I want to keep it that way,” Rodgers said. He added that a public narrative about the family had continued for too long and that he wanted to correct the impression that the relationships remained unchanged.
Rodgers said the reasons behind the separation “don’t need to be talked about” and focused instead on his gratitude that the family had found a path back to one another.
Brittani Has Remained Outside the Spotlight
Rodgers first publicly mentioned that he was dating a woman named Brittani in December 2024. In June 2025, he confirmed that they had married several months earlier.
He has not publicly disclosed Brittani’s surname or other identifying details, explaining that she did not seek a public life and wanted their relationship to remain private.
Looking back on the relationships he had missed, Rodgers said he was thankful that the process had “come all the way back around” and that his wife had been beside him as it happened.
