Anna Faris says one of her favorite Cindy Campbell jokes did not make the final cut of the new Scary Movie.
The actress returned to the horror-spoof franchise with Regina Hall, Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, and other familiar names for the sixth installment, which opened in theaters on June 5.
In a recent interview clip covered by The Hollywood Reporter and People, Faris said she wanted Cindy to lean harder into a conspiracy-driven conservative personality. One deleted scene had Cindy drunk in her truck, looking into the rearview mirror and telling herself, “Be best, Cindy Campbell. Be best.”
The line was a reference to Melania Trump’s Be Best initiative. Faris said the joke was cut, though the finished movie still leaves Cindy with a smaller Republican reference.
Faris Wanted Cindy Campbell to Go Further
People reported that Faris described pushing Cindy toward a “classic MAGA rabbit hole” version of the character, the kind of person she associated with loud quarantine-era public confrontations. In Faris’ version, Cindy was not only returning as the familiar horror-spoof survivor from the early films; she had picked up a new political personality somewhere along the way.
The cut Be Best joke came from that approach. Faris said the moment had Cindy getting drunk in her truck before turning the slogan into a private pep talk. “That didn’t make it, but I liked my little winking there,” she said, according to People.
Faris also said the movie’s deliberately offensive tone made her feel freer as a performer. People quoted her saying she was the lead of “the most offensive movie ever made” and that participating in that kind of material “liberated” her.
The Be Best Line Referenced Melania Trump’s White House Initiative

The archived White House page for Be Best describes it as Melania Trump’s initiative focused on children’s well-being, online safety, and opioid abuse. The same archive says the initiative concentrated on social, emotional, and physical health, along with responsible online behavior.
Faris’ deleted line used the slogan as a quick character joke rather than a long political bit. The detail is specific enough to explain why it traveled after Faris described it: the scene would have put Cindy’s new political framing into one short line built around a recognizable public phrase.
People reported that Faris said Cindy is still depicted as a conservative in the released movie, but the Be Best moment was not included.
The New Scary Movie Reunites Faris, Hall, and the Wayans Family
The new Scary Movie brings Faris back as Cindy Campbell and Regina Hall back as Brenda Meeks. People reported that Shawn Wayans and Marlon Wayans also returned for the franchise’s sixth entry, which the outlet described as a reboot of sorts.
The movie opened in theaters on June 5 and quickly gave the series a box-office boost. Variety reported that Scary Movie opened with a franchise-best $55 million domestic debut.
Faris’ cut joke now sits outside the movie as a small behind-the-scenes detail from that comeback. The theatrical version keeps Cindy’s conservative turn, while the Melania Trump line remains something Faris described after release.
