Arnold Schwarzenegger brought his longtime girlfriend, Heather Milligan, into the public spotlight this week during a rare joint appearance in Vienna.
The actor, former California governor and climate advocate attended the Austrian World Summit on Tuesday, June 16, with Milligan by his side. The event was tied to the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative, the environmental organization behind the annual summit.
People reported that Schwarzenegger, 78, and Milligan, 51, attended the summit in support of his climate work. The couple has been together for more than 14 years, but they have kept most of their relationship outside the celebrity spotlight.
The Vienna appearance came with a high-profile guest list. The summit included former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker.

Page Six noted that Milligan has largely stayed out of the public spotlight during the relationship, even though she has joined Schwarzenegger at select events over the years. Their recent public appearances have included a Nobu Malibu dinner in April and the Los Angeles premiere of FUBAR Season 2.
Milligan’s low profile has become part of the public interest around the relationship. Schwarzenegger is one of the most recognizable movie stars in the world, but his partner has built her career away from entertainment coverage.

The Austrian World Summit listed Schwarzenegger, Harris and Van der Bellen among its 2026 speakers. The summit, founded by Schwarzenegger in 2017, brings political figures, scientists, business leaders and activists together around climate solutions.
This year’s event marked the 10th Austrian World Summit and took place at the Vienna Hofburg. The Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative announced Harris as a special guest ahead of the June 16 summit, calling her one of the most prominent international voices on democracy, justice and climate protection.
Schwarzenegger also leaned on one of his most famous movie references while discussing pollution. People quoted him telling Morning Joe, “We have to terminate pollution,” turning his Terminator image into a line for the cause he has pushed for years.
Milligan Has Built Her Own Career Outside Hollywood
Milligan is a physical therapist and business owner who met Schwarzenegger in 2012 while helping him recover from shoulder surgery. Their professional connection later developed into a relationship, but she has remained far less public than many partners of major celebrities.
In a 2023 interview cited by People, he described Milligan as successful, driven and hard-working, saying he was proud of the career she had built.
The Vienna appearance placed Milligan beside Schwarzenegger at an event tied to one of the central causes of his post-political career. The summit connected his Austrian roots, climate advocacy and a public moment with the partner who has mostly stayed outside the entertainment spotlight.
