Aubrey Plaza has completed the sale of the Los Angeles home she bought with her late husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena, after nearly a year of listings, price cuts and deals that did not reach closing.
The Los Feliz property closed September 4 for $4.375 million, according to property records obtained by TMZ. Plaza and Baena paid $4.7 million for the house in October 2022, putting the final sale price $325,000 below what they originally spent.
The Spanish style compound dates to 1928 and sits behind gates on a private double lot. Listing materials advertised four bedrooms, a screening room, wine cellar, swimming pool, oversized steam room and a state of the art sound system.
Baena died at the home in January 2025. Plaza has spoken publicly about the grief that followed his death, but she has not said that grief was the reason she chose to sell the property.
The Home Went Through Several Price Cuts Before It Sold
Plaza first listed the property in September 2025 for $6.5 million. The house remained on the market until December 23, when it was withdrawn without a sale.
It returned in January at $5.75 million, and Realtor.com reported in March that Plaza had accepted an offer. That deal did not close, and the property was removed again before returning in May with a new agent and a $5.3 million asking price.
Another reduction followed in July, bringing the ask to $4.85 million. Realtor.com reported in August that the home had once again entered escrow after several earlier offers had fallen through. The September closing at $4.375 million ended the process roughly a year after Plaza first put the property up for sale.
The 1928 Compound Mixes Spanish Details With Modern Amenities
The four bedroom residence was built in 1928 and had been restored while retaining many of its Spanish and Mediterranean architectural details. Listing photographs showed arched openings, light filled rooms and a kitchen with large doors opening toward the backyard.
The house sits on an expansive double lot in Los Feliz Oaks. Outdoor areas were designed for dining and entertaining, with mature landscaping, lawn space and a swimming pool surrounded by trees.
Inside, the listing highlighted a screening room, wine cellar, oversized steam room and high end sound system. Plaza and Baena purchased the property off market through a trust in October 2022.
Plaza Has Called Grief a ‘Daily Struggle’
Plaza largely kept her grief private in the months after Baena’s death. She spoke about it more directly during an August 2025 appearance on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, saying she was functioning and grateful to be moving through the world while describing grief as a “daily struggle.”
She compared the experience to the dangerous gorge in the film The Gorge, describing an overwhelming presence that was always nearby. The Associated Press reported that Plaza called it a “giant ocean of awfulness.”
The completed home sale is a real estate transaction, not a statement Plaza has publicly made about that grief. She has not explained her reasons for selling the property or connected the decision to Baena’s death.
