PEOPLE reported that Lively, 38, and Reynolds, 49, did not attend either Swift and Kelce’s July 2 rehearsal dinner or their July 3 wedding in New York City. Instead, the couple was seen spending time with their family in Lake Placid, New York, while Swift’s current circle gathered at Madison Square Garden.
The absence arrived as Daily Mail framed the missing invite as a “final straw” moment, and The Mirror also picked up the Blake-and-Taylor wedding rift angle. Neither Swift nor Lively has publicly confirmed that the friendship is over.
Swift and Kelce were married in front of a star-heavy crowd at MSG, while one of Swift’s most recognizable longtime friends was nearly 300 miles away.

PEOPLE reported that Lively and Reynolds were not among the guests at Swift and Kelce’s wedding Friday night. They were also absent from the couple’s rehearsal dinner the night before, when guests including Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, Jack Antonoff, Abigail Anderson, Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson were seen around Madison Square Garden.
PEOPLE noted that Swift had revealed she was godmother to Lively and Reynolds’ children, and the children have also been referenced in Swift’s music.
Page Six reported that sources described the friendship as done, with one insider saying Swift wanted to be surrounded by people she trusted and who brought her peace.

While the wedding activity unfolded in Manhattan, Lively and Reynolds were seen in Lake Placid, New York. PEOPLE reported that the couple attended their daughter Betty’s horse show on July 2, where Betty competed in several events and placed first and second.
TMZ published photos from the outing and reported that the family was several hours away from New York City as Swift and Kelce’s wedding weekend began.
The Reported Rift Traces Back to the Justin Baldoni Legal Battle
The friendship tension has been tied for months to Lively’s legal dispute with her It Ends With Us costar and director Justin Baldoni. PEOPLE previously reported that sources said Swift and Lively were “taking some space” from each other in May 2025 after Swift was served a subpoena from Baldoni’s lawyers.
Swift’s spokesperson said at the time that the singer’s involvement in It Ends With Us was limited to licensing “My Tears Ricochet” and that she had never been on set. ABC News later reported that Swift was no longer facing the subpoena after sources said the necessary information had been obtained.
PEOPLE later reported that the strain deepened after private messages involving Swift and Lively were unsealed in the legal dispute. A source told the outlet that Swift had been trying to be a friend to Lively and did not expect private messages to become public.

Reuters also reported that Swift’s publicist confirmed the marriage as “JUST&T MARRIED!” flashed on screens outside MSG. Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony, Austin Swift served as Taylor’s man of honor, and Jason Kelce served as Travis’ best man.
