Brad Paisley says Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce made their enormous New York City wedding feel personal before guests even knew exactly where it would take place.
The country singer attended the couple’s July 3 ceremony at Madison Square Garden with his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley.
Approximately 1,000 guests reportedly filled the famous arena for the closely guarded celebration.
Despite the scale and celebrity-filled guest list, Paisley called it “one of the least pretentious weddings” he had ever attended. He said the tone was established by an invitation assuring recipients that they held a meaningful place in the couple’s lives.
The Invitation Told Guests They Meant ‘a Lot’ to the Couple

“I took this personally when I got the invite, because in the invite, it said, ‘If you’re getting this, you mean a lot to us,’” Paisley told the Associated Press. The message made him feel that his invitation reflected a genuine relationship with Swift and Kelce rather than his inclusion on a broad celebrity guest list.
Paisley said the couple initially told invitees roughly where the ceremony would happen without naming the building. They supplied the date and promised more information after guests confirmed that they planned to attend.
“It was really fun to watch the cat-and-mouse game,” he said. “We can tell you roughly where it’s gonna be. We’re not gonna say what building.”
Kimberly Williams-Paisley Immediately Said They Had to Go
After reading the invitation, Paisley asked his wife whether she wanted to attend. “She’s like, ‘Absolutely. We’ve gotta be there,’” he recalled. “So we did it. It was RSVP yes.”
The couple’s presence reflected Paisley’s long history with Swift. She joined his Bonfires & Amplifiers tour as a teenage special guest in 2007, during the early years of her country career. Paisley described the eventual invitation as “a big thank you” from Swift and said attending the ceremony meant a great deal to him.
The No-Phone Rule Required Some Advance Planning

The secrecy continued inside Madison Square Garden, where guests reportedly followed a strict no-phone policy that also prohibited Apple Watches. Kimberly’s sister, Ashley Williams, told Decider that the restriction created practical questions before the wedding. Kimberly wondered how she would keep track of the time or find her way back through the large venue after leaving her group.
Brad purchased a traditional wristwatch because guests could not rely on their phones or smartwatches. Ashley said the attendees also developed a simple strategy for navigating the venue, people accompanied one another when they needed to leave their groups.
Ashley did not attend the ceremony, but she helped her sister prepare beforehand. The following morning, the two ordered bagels and watched New York’s July Fourth boat parade while Kimberly shared details from the celebration.
Swift and Kelce Also Supported the Paisleys’ Charity
Ahead of the wedding, Swift and Kelce donated $26 million across several charitable organizations. The recipients included The Store, the Nashville nonprofit founded by Paisley and Williams-Paisley to provide groceries to families experiencing food insecurity.
“We’re truly inspired by Taylor and Travis’s generosity to so many wonderful organizations, and extremely grateful that The Store is included among them,” the Paisleys told People. They said the donation would help support their Nashville neighbors and called it “a beautiful way to celebrate the beginning of a marriage.”
