Chris Pratt celebrated Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 79th birthday by poking fun at the pair’s unexpectedly coordinated sense of style.
The Guardians of the Galaxy actor shared a photograph with his father-in-law in which both men wore near-identical navy button-up shirts with similarly colored pants.
Pratt wished Schwarzenegger many more years of matching outfits before joking that it remained unclear whether their latest look had been planned.
The lighthearted tribute arrived as Schwarzenegger marked the milestone with a workout, a fitness challenge and time with his family.

Pratt shared his birthday message through Instagram Stories on Thursday, July 30. The photograph showed the 47-year-old actor with one arm around Schwarzenegger’s shoulder as the two smiled in their closely coordinated outfits.
“Happy Birthday @schwarzenegger,” Pratt wrote. “Here’s to many more years of suspiciously coordinated outfits. Coincidence? Jury’s still out.” People reshared the image and noted that both men paired navy shirts with pants in similar shades.
Pratt’s message continued a family tradition of combining affectionate birthday wishes with jokes about Schwarzenegger’s larger-than-life personality.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Asked Fans Not to Send Gifts

Schwarzenegger celebrated his birthday in a way that reflected the bodybuilding career that first made him famous. The Terminator star shared photographs of himself performing a lat pulldown and biceps curls while wearing sunglasses, a black T-shirt and black athletic shorts.
“I turn 79 today. I don’t want any gifts,” Schwarzenegger wrote in the Instagram post. “Instead, my team and I are turning the fitness industry upside down.” He used the occasion to promote a challenge through his Pump Club fitness app. New users who enroll by August 9 can begin with a seven-day trial before paying $100 for their first year.
Participants who complete four programs during that year will receive the full amount back. Schwarzenegger said users will receive $50 after finishing their first program and another $50 after completing their fourth. “No fine print,” he wrote. “Show up, do the work, and your first year is free.”
Schwarzenegger described the program as a personal mission rather than a conventional business venture, explaining that it is backed by him instead of a private-equity firm or hedge fund. “This is a crusade, not just a business,” he wrote. “I’ve been trying to get people to train for six decades, and I finally found something that works.”
InStyle reported that Schwarzenegger still trains nearly every day, although his current workouts last approximately 30 minutes rather than the marathon sessions he completed during his professional bodybuilding career.

Pratt’s wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, celebrated her father with a collection of childhood photographs and more recent family memories. “Happy Birthday, Dad,” she wrote. “So lucky you’re ours… and even luckier our kids get you as Opa.”
Her Instagram gallery opened with an old Halloween photograph showing Arnold carrying a young Katherine, who was dressed as a clown. Other images followed their relationship through Katherine’s childhood and included more recent screenshots from video calls with her father.
The post also featured a photograph of Schwarzenegger sitting beside his former wife, Maria Shriver, during a family ski trip. The former couple smiled while seated together in the snow wearing matching black ski clothes.
Schwarzenegger and Shriver share four children: Katherine, Christina, Patrick and Christopher. They finalized their divorce in December 2021 but have continued attending family gatherings together.

Pratt began dating Katherine in 2018, and the couple married in June 2019. They have since welcomed daughters Lyla Maria and Eloise Christina, followed by their son, Ford Fitzgerald, in November 2024. Pratt also shares his older son, Jack, with his former wife Anna Faris.
Schwarzenegger has spoken warmly about watching Katherine become a mother and developing his relationship with her children. During the 2023 premiere of his Netflix series FUBAR, he described seeing his daughter enter parenthood as a new and rewarding stage of family life. “It’s nice to see your kids having kids themselves and to watch this new dimension,” he said. “Now seeing them be a parent? It’s fantastic.”
His home has also become a popular destination for the grandchildren because of the horses, miniature donkey and pet pig he keeps there. Schwarzenegger previously explained that feeding the animals helped the children become more comfortable around him.

Pratt has repeatedly described Schwarzenegger’s support as meaningful on both a personal and professional level. Before marrying into the family, Pratt grew up watching Schwarzenegger in movies including Predator, Commando and The Terminator. He later told People that receiving encouragement from someone he had admired as an action star remained “mind-blowing.”
Schwarzenegger has been equally complimentary about his son-in-law, describing Pratt as entertaining company and saying he was happy Katherine had found someone who suited her so well.
For Schwarzenegger’s 77th birthday in 2024, Pratt shared photographs of them playing chess, relaxing with a dog and feeding homemade cookies to a pig inside the kitchen. “Looking forward to another year of sage advice, good cigars, chess whoopings and hand feeding homemade cookies to the many barn animals that live in your kitchen,” Pratt wrote at the time.
