Dakota Johnson has cleared up one of the stranger comments under Jennifer Lawrence’s brand-new Instagram account.
After Lawrence posted her first Reel on Sept. 10 and jokingly warned followers that she would quit the platform if anyone said anything mean, a screenshot began circulating of Johnson apparently responding with one word: “Slut!” Some users questioned whether the comment was authentic, but Johnson has now confirmed that it was hers, according to Just Jared.
Johnson explained that Lawrence’s unusually earnest request for people to be nice reminded her of a private joke between the friends from a time when Johnson was living in New York while filming a movie.
Lawrence had let Johnson know that she was walking past her building. Johnson opened a top-floor window, shouted the same word down at her and filmed Lawrence’s confused reaction from above.

Johnson confirmed the story during an appearance on Vogue’s The Run-Through while discussing her October cover. “I did comment on Jen Lawrence’s post recently,” Johnson said.
She explained that Lawrence’s first Reel struck her as especially funny because the actress was so sincere about wanting people to be nice to her online. That immediately reminded Johnson of the video she had saved from their earlier New York encounter.
Johnson said Lawrence had told her she was walking past the building where Johnson was staying. Johnson opened a window on the top floor and shouted, “Slut!” down to her friend while recording the exchange.
Lawrence, according to Johnson, simply looked confused from the sidewalk. Johnson still has the video and said she hopes it eventually finds its way onto the internet, although she did not say whether she plans to upload it herself.

Lawrence launched her public Instagram account earlier in September after years of largely staying away from posting on the platform.
Her first Reel on Sept. 10 immediately established the kind of approach she planned to take. “If anyone says anything negative, I will quit immediately,” Lawrence joked, adding that there would be “no questions asked.”
She then raised the warning another level, saying she would somehow know even if someone merely thought something mean about her.
Lawrence is posting under @jlaw after discovering that her preferred @jenniferlawrence username was already unavailable, according to Just Jared.
Johnson Says the Two Could Be ‘Ultimate Internet Trolls’
Asked about what she does outside work, Johnson discussed reading through her TeaTime book club, watching movies and trolling her friends online. Lawrence, she suggested, could make an especially effective partner. “I think Jennifer and I could be the ultimate internet trolls if we, A, had the time and, B, the interest,” Johnson joked.
