Georgia Dane is officially joining the family business. The 14-year-old daughter of Rebecca Gayheart and the late Eric Dane has landed her first screen acting role, and her debut will put her opposite her mother in a new Lifetime movie.
Georgia will play Ashley in The Ocean Between Them, a survival drama inspired by true events that premieres September 26. Entertainment Weekly confirmed that the project marks her first acting role.
Gayheart stars as Joan, whose older daughter Miranda, played by Jessica Lord, disappears at sea during a family vacation in Belize. Georgia’s Ashley is Joan’s younger daughter and joins her mother in the search for her missing sister.
The casting gives Georgia an unusual first job, playing a daughter while working alongside her real-life mother. It also puts her on screen about six months after the death of her father, the Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria actor Eric Dane, at age 53.
Georgia Plays Rebecca Gayheart’s On-Screen Daughter
The movie’s story begins after an argument sends Miranda kayaking alone. An unexpected storm leaves her stranded at sea, forcing her to battle the elements while Joan refuses to give up searching for her.
Georgia’s Ashley remains with Joan during the search, while Karl Walcott plays Luke, a local bartender who helps them. TV Insider reports that Gabriel Correa directed the movie from a screenplay by Sam Lee, Angela Gulner and Yuri Baranovsky. The movie premieres Saturday, September 26 at 8/7c on Lifetime.
For Gayheart, the project adds another thriller to a career that has included Urban Legend, Jawbreaker and Scream 2, as well as an appearance in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. This time, however, she gets the unusual opportunity to share the screen directly with one of her daughters.
The Movie Joins Lifetime’s September Survival Slate
The Ocean Between Them is part of Lifetime’s “Strength of a Lifetime” event, which centers scripted movies inspired by real-life stories of survival and resilience. TheWrap confirmed that Evoke Entertainment produced Georgia and Gayheart’s movie for the network.
The September event begins with Robin Roberts Presents Angel in the Rubble: The Genelle Guzman Story on September 12, starring Sherri Shepherd and Dondré Whitfield.
It is followed on September 19 by Sole Survivor of Flight 119, starring Sarah Wayne Callies and Joy Bryant. That movie is inspired by Tammy L. Kling’s memoir Exit Row and follows the sole survivor of a plane crash as she fights to make her way through the Mexican jungle. The Ocean Between Them closes out the three-film lineup on September 26.
Georgia Is the Younger of Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart’s Two Daughters
Georgia is the younger of Dane and Gayheart’s two children. Their older daughter, Billie, is 16, while Georgia recently graduated from middle school before news of her acting debut became public.
Gayheart and Dane married in 2004. She filed for divorce in 2018 after the couple separated, but in 2025 she moved to dismiss the divorce petition.
Dane died on February 19 at age 53 following his battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS. His family said at the time that he spent his final days surrounded by loved ones, including Gayheart and daughters Billie and Georgia.
