Jodie Sweetin says a Janet Jackson concert outing with Bob Saget and other Full House cast members took a frightening turn when gunfire shattered a window in their limousine.
The actress, 44, revisited the incident during the show’s reunion panel at ’90s Con on Sunday, October 18, at the Connecticut Convention Center.
Sweetin was a child at the time, having started playing Stephanie Tanner at age 5. Saget played her father, Danny Tanner, and also accompanied the younger actors on outings away from the set.
In an earlier CTG Sports interview covered by EntertainmentNow in June, Sweetin said Saget had bought the concert tickets and asked her mother’s permission. The group traveled by limo.

During Sunday’s panel, Sweetin recalled leaning forward to tie her shoes just before hearing several shots. The window beside her broke apart, she said.
She described hearing “pop pop pop” before “the whole thing shattered,” according to PEOPLE. She identified the incident as a drive-by shooting and placed it in the late 1980s or early 1990s.
Her earlier interview offered more detail about the group’s dinner stop. Sweetin said the adults were still inside the restaurant paying when she returned to the car with people she remembered as Candace Cameron Bure’s sister and a friend.
After the gunfire, she recalled crawling away and running back inside to alert the adults. They initially struggled to believe her until they went outside and saw the broken window.
Two Taxis Collected the Group, and Her Costars Remembered Being There
Sweetin told the convention audience that they waited for two station-wagon taxis to collect them. She remembered the delay making them late.
Scott Weinger and Cameron Bure also recalled the outing. EntertainmentNow, which attended the panel, reported that Cameron Bure remembered nine people in the group.
“This is a true story. I was there,” Weinger told the audience, before joking about how exciting Los Angeles had seemed to him.
John Stamos wondered how the incident had escaped press attention. Sweetin said the memory still seemed so improbable that she occasionally questioned it herself, despite remembering what happened.
Saget Had to Tell Sweetin’s Mother About the Shooting
At the end of the evening, Saget took Sweetin home and faced the prospect of explaining everything to her mother.
In her earlier account, Sweetin remembered him worrying aloud during the drive. When they arrived, he began by reassuring her mother that everyone was fine, prompting an alarmed response about what that meant.
At the convention, Sweetin also mentioned the Laugh Factory while joking about her mother’s opinion of him. “Bob was not always my mom’s favorite,” she said.
His adult humor had caused trouble with other parents, too. In a 2025 How Rude, Tanneritos! discussion covered by Entertainment Weekly, Andrea Barber recalled the young actors’ mothers sitting in the bleachers on evenings without a studio audience and calling out Saget when his jokes went too far.

Sweetin appeared alongside Cameron Bure, Weinger, Stamos, Barber, Lori Loughlin and Dave Coulier. PEOPLE executive editor Breanne L. Heldman moderated the conversation.
According to PEOPLE, Loughlin said this was her first ’90s Con and spoke about enjoying fans’ stories of what the sitcom meant to them.
Several cast members had also gathered in Beverly Hills five days earlier for the Scleroderma Research Foundation’s Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine fundraiser, where Stamos received the Bob Saget Legacy Award.
Saget died in January 2022 at age 65. At Sunday’s panel, Stamos said sharing memories helped keep his friend alive, while Sweetin joked that Saget would be delighted to remain everyone’s main topic of conversation.
