Jennifer Garner marked Father’s Day with a tribute to the dads in her life, including rare family photos of her ex-husband Ben Affleck with their three children.
The Alias actress shared an Instagram carousel Sunday that included Affleck with Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 14, along with photos and video of Garner’s late father, William John Garner.
“Being fathered by someone who loves being a dad is a gift,” Garner wrote in the caption. She added that she and her sisters knew that love from their own father, and that their children are lucky to know it, too.
Instead of making the tribute about her former marriage, Garner kept the focus on fathers, children and the family memories attached to the holiday.

The carousel included throwback photos of Affleck in dad mode, including one image of him with a baby carrier and another of him dressed as Batman while holding Samuel. People described the post as a rare look at Affleck with the three children he shares with Garner.
Garner also included family memories with her own father, who died in 2024. In the caption, she remembered how she and her sisters loved spoiling him with cookies and ice cream, then connected that memory to seeing her own children dote on their dad.
The Post Included a Warm Father’s Day Message
Garner wished a happy Father’s Day to dads “no matter where you are,” along with uncles, grandfathers and father figures. The caption turned the post into a broader holiday tribute while still giving Affleck a clear place in the carousel.
Page Six reported that the photos included never-before-seen images of Affleck with the children. InStyle noted that the post also reflected the former couple’s public co-parenting dynamic years after their divorce.
Garner and Affleck Have Three Children Together
Garner and Affleck married in 2005, separated in 2015 and finalized their divorce in 2018. They share Violet, Fin and Samuel, and have continued to appear publicly at family events involving their children.
Affleck recently praised Garner while speaking about Violet’s United Nations appearance, calling his ex-wife “spectacular” and saying he was grateful for their co-parenting partnership, according to People.
Garner Recently Reflected on Her Own Parenting
The Father’s Day post came shortly after Garner spoke about a Mother’s Day request that showed how much her children’s growing-up years have been on her mind. In a recent People interview, she said she asked her kids to sit with her in their old reading nook while she read aloud from favorite childhood books one more time.
Violet is now in college, while Fin and Samuel are teenagers.
