Jennifer Aniston and Jim Curtis apparently had considerably more history together before the public caught on to their relationship than their first vacation photos suggested.

Curtis said he and Aniston have now been together for “a year and a half” during an Aug. 31 appearance on The Jamie Kern Lima Show. The 50-year-old hypnotherapist and author also gave a surprisingly practical answer about how they deal with disagreements, meditation, talking, acceptance and understanding.

“It’s going really well,” Curtis said of his relationship with the 57-year-old actress, according to PEOPLE. He described Aniston as grounded, open, caring and kind, and said he feels fortunate to have been welcomed into the close group of friends she considers family.

The year-and-a-half timeline reaches further back than the summer 2025 photographs that first made their romance public. Neither Curtis nor Aniston has supplied an exact date for when their friendship became a relationship, however, and Curtis has given approximate timelines before.

Curtis Says Meditation Comes Before the ‘Big Sledgehammers’

Jamie Kern Lima asked Curtis whether he and Aniston use a four-part prayer “I’m sorry. I’m listening. Thank you. I love you” when they have disagreements. Curtis said they have used it, but it is not where they generally begin.

“We do a lot of meditation. We do a lot of talk,” he said, according to Just Jared. Curtis also named acceptance and understanding among the approaches they use before reaching for something more structured. Curtis said different stages of a relationship can require different approaches and joked that during this one, the tools do not have to be “big sledgehammers.”

His New Timeline Reaches Back Before the Public Romance

Curtis had already offered a less specific version of their origin story during a January appearance on Today. He said mutual friends introduced them, after which they began chatting and gradually became close. “It took a long time,” he said of the transition.

Asked then how long they had been together, Curtis estimated that it had been “months” and was approaching a year. Reports in May said Aniston and Curtis had recently celebrated their one-year anniversary. His new year-and-a-half description is broader, but all of those accounts place the beginning of their connection well before the public started following it closely.

Aniston and Curtis generated widespread dating attention during a July 2025 trip to Mallorca with friends including Jason Bateman and Amanda Anka. By Nov. 2, Aniston removed any remaining ambiguity about their relationship when she posted a black-and-white photograph of herself embracing Curtis for his 50th birthday and called him “my love.”

Curtis also spoke about the people who have surrounded Aniston for years, describing her close friends as a “beautiful community” and saying he feels “incredibly blessed” to have been welcomed into it. He said their grounded and kind nature helps explain why the group has remained so close.

Aniston’s own social media has increasingly shown Curtis inside that circle. Her July summer photo carousel included him alongside friends including Jason Bateman, Amanda Anka, Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup, as well as more casual glimpses of Curtis in her everyday life.

The couple is about to bring that relationship into a different public setting. Aniston is scheduled to interview Curtis at New York’s 92nd Street Y on Sept. 2 for an event centered on his upcoming book, The Book of Possibility, with the program also set to include a guided meditation led by Curtis.
