Jon Hamm and Anna Osceola turned Emmy night into their first major red-carpet appearance as parents-to-be.

Osceola walked the carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 14 with her growing baby bump fully visible, marking her first public appearance since news of the couple’s first child became public in August. Just Jared photographed the pair together, with Osceola in a floor-length striped halter dress and Hamm in a black suit and bow tie.

Hamm attended as a nominated executive producer of Your Friends & Neighbors, the Apple TV drama in which he stars, while Osceola also appeared in the show’s second season.

For Hamm, 55, the pregnancy also follows years of publicly rethinking what marriage and fatherhood might look like for him. He had already said after marrying Osceola that he hoped their relationship would eventually lead to children.

The Pregnancy News Had Only Been Public for a Month

PEOPLE confirmed in August that Hamm and Osceola, 38, were expecting their first child. The news initially surfaced after photographs showed the couple together during a vacation in the Hamptons. That made the Emmy carpet the first time Osceola had publicly stepped out since the pregnancy became known.

In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hamm said he hoped his marriage would “turn into kids.” He acknowledged that he would be an older father but did not frame that as a reason to avoid starting a family. “It’s not lost on me that I’m 53,” he said at the time. “I will be the old dad, but so it goes. It could be a good thing. We’ll see.”

Hamm Had Already Changed His Mind About Marriage and Fatherhood

Hamm has spoken openly about why those milestones once felt less obvious to him. His parents divorced when he was young, and he has said that experience left him without a model of marriage he naturally expected to follow.

His relationship with Osceola gradually shifted that thinking. During a 2022 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Hamm said therapy and the stability of the relationship had opened him up to marriage, children and what he called a new version of happiness.

They married in June 2023 at Anderson Canyon in Big Sur. The Mad Men series finale was filmed there, with Osceola appearing as Clementine in the episode where Hamm’s Don Draper reaches the California retreat.

The two had met through the series before later becoming romantically involved, making the wedding location a deliberate return to the place associated with the beginning of their connection.

The Emmys Were Also a Work Night for the Couple

Your Friends & Neighbors arrived at the ceremony as an Outstanding Drama Series nominee. The Television Academy lists Hamm among the show’s nominated executive producers alongside creator Jonathan Tropper and the rest of the producing team.

Osceola joined the series in Season 2 as Maggie Haber. Hamm told PEOPLE earlier this year that having his wife on set made the working day easier, joking that they could bring their dog with them and save money on dog sitting.

The Outstanding Drama Series award ultimately went to The Pitt. Hamm still had another job during the telecast: he and Your Friends & Neighbors co-star Amanda Peet presented Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, which went to Matthew Rhys for Widow’s Bay.
