Justin Bieber’s surprise performance at Los Angeles’ MacArthur Park began as something other than an attempt to stage an impromptu concert.
The singer arrived at the park Sept. 22 with several musicians and eventually sat on the grass with a cajón as a crowd formed around them. A source close to Bieber told E! News that he had gone there to distribute supplies and resources to people experiencing homelessness.
As phones came out, Bieber performed songs including “Yukon,” “Speed Demon” and “All I Can Take” with little of the production surrounding his much larger performances earlier this year.
Members of his group were also seen handing out supplies nearby, while the manager of a local bakery said Bieber’s team bought all of its freshly made doughnuts and distributed them to people in the area.
Bieber’s Group Handed Out Gift Cards, Water and Food
The source close to Bieber said he distributed gift cards and water bottles during the visit. TMZ separately reported that his purchases included socks, water and other supplies worth thousands of dollars.
Page Six spoke with Daniel Orea, manager of Annie’s Bakery Cafe near MacArthur Park, who said he saw Bieber and his friends handing small paper bags to unhoused people.
According to Orea, two members of Bieber’s group then entered the bakery and purchased its entire supply of freshly made doughnuts to hand out.
Bieber has not publicly given a detailed account of the visit himself, so the explanation of why he went to the park comes from people close to him and witnesses who were there.

Social media footage shows Bieber seated on the grass alongside several musicians as passersby stopped and the audience gradually grew. He alternated between singing and playing percussion during the informal set.
The Los Angeles Times confirmed that “Yukon” was among the songs he performed. Other footage and local reports documented performances of “Speed Demon,” “All I Can Take,” “Daisies” and his DJ Snake collaboration “Let Me Love You.”
The MacArthur Park appearance came after Bieber spent much of 2026 playing considerably larger stages. He made his Coachella headlining debut in April with a nearly 90-minute performance and later appeared during the World Cup final halftime show in July.
At the park, there was no announced start time, ticketed audience or large-scale stage production. People who happened to be nearby instead gathered within a few feet of Bieber and the musicians.

One video from the afternoon shows Bieber greeting a young boy while the musicians sit nearby with their instruments. After Bieber shakes his hand, another member of the group gives the child a tambourine as relatives encourage him to join in.
Additional clips show Bieber posing for photos and speaking with people gathered in the park. Page Six also reported that he stopped to wish one attendee a happy birthday.
By the time Bieber left, the unannounced visit had produced both a small public performance and a distribution of food and supplies that had not been advertised beforehand.
