Kaia Gerber was photographed returning to her Hollywood Hills home Friday, less than a week after the death of her older brother, Presley Gerber.
The 25-year-old model and actress arrived with a friend, with both wearing sunglasses, according to TMZ. The sighting came as additional information from Presley’s death certificate became public.
Gerber has not publicly addressed her brother’s death. A representative for Cindy Crawford, Rande Gerber and Kaia previously said the family was asking for privacy during what they described as a “very difficult and painful time.”
Presley died September 20 at age 27. Kaia’s Friday appearance followed several days in which friends and other people close to her were photographed around her Los Angeles home.
Friends Helped Search for Gerber’s Missing Cat
Influencer Jake Shane was photographed arriving at the Gerber residence in the days after Presley’s death. Laura Dern was also seen bringing flowers and gift bags to Kaia’s home.
Another group came together after Kaia’s cat, Tony, went missing. Her boyfriend, actor Lewis Pullman, joined Shane and director Carissa Gallo in searching the Hollywood Hills neighborhood, according to Page Six. The group put up missing-pet flyers identifying Tony and offering a reward.
The cat, who was wearing a tracker when he disappeared, was subsequently found.
She Had Spoken About Presley Days Before His Death
Four days before Presley died, Kaia told PEOPLE about the way her brother had been supporting her work on FX’s The Shards.
Presley would send his sister photographs whenever he spotted advertisements for the series. Kaia called the gesture “sweet” and said it meant a lot to her that he was seeing the campaign while out and about.
The interview became one of Kaia’s final public conversations about her brother before his death.
Presley’s Cause and Manner of Death Remain Deferred
Presley died at a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica on September 20. Reuters reported that the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed his death while his family requested privacy.
The Santa Monica Police Department responded to the facility at approximately 9:35 a.m. following a call concerning a possible overdose. Officers found Presley unresponsive, and he was pronounced dead at 9:45 a.m. Police have said the death is being investigated as a suspected overdose and that no foul play is suspected.
A deputy medical examiner subsequently completed an examination, but both the cause and manner of death were deferred while additional testing or studies are conducted. The medical examiner’s office has said deferred cases can take several months to resolve.
A death certificate obtained by TMZ shows that Presley was cremated at Rose Family Funeral Home and that his ashes will be kept at his parents’ Malibu home.
