Katy Perry received a painted portrait from artist Clara Woods at a Los Angeles screening of her new concert film, and the exchange quickly became one of the night’s most personal moments.
Woods presented the artwork to Perry on August 26 at AMC The Grove, where Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris was screened ahead of its theatrical release. Her brother, Davi Woods, introduced Clara and explained that a perinatal stroke affected her ability to speak, read and write and that art is one of the ways she communicates, according to PEOPLE.
Perry looked closely at the portrait and immediately asked whether she could keep it. “This is amazing, this is so brilliant,” she said, before asking Woods, “Can I put this in my office?”
The meeting happened during a night built around Perry’s connection with fans. She later joined the crowd during “Firework,” took part in a live Q&A and celebrated the 16th anniversary of Teenage Dream before the concert film’s worldwide cinema rollout.
Perry Asked to Keep the Portrait in Her Office
Woods handed Perry a colorful painted portrait during their meeting at The Grove. Perry studied the piece, praised it and asked whether she could put it in her office.
Davi helped introduce his sister and explain how she uses art. Perry then hugged Woods after accepting the painting.
The moment fit the larger fan-focused event without feeling like a staged red-carpet exchange. Woods had brought Perry something she made herself, and Perry treated it like something she wanted to keep near her.
Art Became Clara Woods’ Way to Communicate
Woods experienced a stroke before birth that made speaking, reading and writing difficult. Her official biography says she understands Portuguese, Italian and English and expresses herself through visual art.
Painting became public for Woods early. She held her first art show in Florence in 2018 and has since shown her work internationally. Her biography says she has sold more than 1,000 original paintings and created one of the official posters for the 2026 Olympic Games.
Her art has also led to other in-person meetings with major performers. Woods previously painted Alicia Keys and gave the portrait to her directly.
Perry Joined Fans During Firework
The Woods meeting came before Perry appeared inside the theater during the concert film’s final song, “Firework.” Rather than staying off to the side, she joined attendees while they danced and sang along.
Perry also took part in a Q&A with Billboard’s Tetris Kelly after the screening. She spoke about trying to make eye contact with fans during concerts and about wanting people in the crowd to feel seen.
The event included a cake for the 16th anniversary of Teenage Dream, the 2010 album that produced “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).”
The Concert Film Opens September 2
Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris was filmed at Accor Arena during two sold-out Paris performances in November 2025. Trafalgar Releasing says director Paul Dugdale used more than 60 camera angles to capture the show.
The 132-minute film begins its theatrical rollout on September 2 across international markets. U.S. audiences will also have access to one-night-only IMAX screenings.
The release follows the film’s Tribeca Festival premiere earlier this year, where Perry described the project as a thank-you to the fans who have stayed with her through different eras of her career.
