Khloé Kardashian is remembering her grandmother, Mary Jo “MJ” Shannon, with photographs spanning from her infancy through adulthood.
The Good American founder shared the tribute on Instagram on July 19, three days after Kris Jenner announced that her mother had died at age 91.
Khloé reflected on MJ’s warmth, humor and influence across several generations of their family. She also expressed gratitude that her children had the opportunity to know their great-grandmother.
“One of my greatest blessings will always be that my children knew their great-grandmother,” Khloé wrote. “That they experienced your hugs, your stories, your joy, and the incredible light you carried so effortlessly.”

The Instagram gallery included photographs of Khloé and MJ taken throughout their lives. One image showed MJ holding Khloé as a baby, while another included Khloé’s older sister, Kourtney Kardashian.
“My sweet MJ,” Khloé began. “Thank you for showing us that life is meant to be celebrated, that laughter is healing, and that love is the greatest legacy we can leave behind.”
She praised her grandmother for living “so fully, so gracefully, and so beautifully” and thanked her for every lesson, laugh, embrace and piece of her heart that she gave to the family. “You were truly one of one,” Khloé wrote.
She Was Grateful True and Tatum Knew Their Great-Grandmother
Khloé said MJ’s relationship with her children was one of the greatest gifts of her life. She shares True and Tatum with former partner Tristan Thompson. “You taught us that love never leaves,” she continued.
“It lives on in the family you built, the traditions we’ll continue, the stories we’ll tell, and every time we choose joy.” Khloé promised to preserve those traditions and stories, telling MJ that her love would “forever be woven into who we are.”

Khloé also referenced her late father, Robert Kardashian, who died in 2003. She said she believed her grandmother had fulfilled a promise to tell him how deeply his family continued to love and miss him.
Her tribute also imagined MJ reunited with her younger daughter, Karen Houghton, and husband Harry Shannon. Karen died in March 2024, while MJ and Harry were married for approximately 40 years before his death in 2003.
“I know you’re happy having your Coke, tuna sandwich and graham crackers with papa Harry while Karen dances around you,” Khloé wrote. “Until we meet again, my sweet MJ! I love you.”

Kris announced her mother’s death in a July 16 Instagram post. She described MJ as the “heart of our family” and credited her with teaching the Kardashian-Jenners to love fiercely, remain kind and never take their time together for granted.
“When I look at my kids and my grandkids, I will forever see pieces of you in all of us,” Kris wrote. “There is not a part of me that isn’t shaped by you.”
