Reuters reported that Charles and Queen Camilla met Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their two children on Friday, July 10, at the King’s Highgrove estate in western England.

The private gathering marked Charles’ first meeting with Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, in four years. It was also the first time Charles and Harry had seen each other in person since September.

A palace source described the gathering as a private family occasion and said no photographs, video or further details would be released.

Harry, Meghan and their children met Charles and Camilla at Highgrove, the King’s private residence in Gloucestershire.

People reported that Meghan and the children flew in from a European vacation for the reunion. Harry had already been in Britain during the week for charity engagements, including events tied to the 2027 Invictus Games.

The palace source did not disclose how long the Sussexes remained at the estate or what the family discussed.

Charles Had Not Seen Archie and Lilibet Since 2022

Archie was born in the United Kingdom in May 2019, while Lilibet was born in California in June 2021. The children have lived primarily in the United States since Harry and Meghan stepped back from their roles as senior working royals in 2020.

People reported that Archie and Lilibet were last in the U.K. in June 2022, when the Sussex family returned for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. During that trip, Lilibet celebrated her first birthday at Frogmore Cottage.

Harry has previously said he wants to reconcile with members of the royal family, particularly his father. Reuters noted that Charles, 77, is undergoing treatment for cancer, and Harry said last year that he wanted reconciliation because he did not know “how much longer” his father had.

The Reunion Followed Security Concerns

The Highgrove visit followed days of uncertainty over whether Meghan, Archie and Lilibet would make the trip to Britain at all.

Reuters previously reported that Meghan and the children had dropped plans to travel to London after a request for police protection was denied, though Harry’s spokesperson said the family had not ruled out traveling elsewhere in Britain.

People reported that Charles had offered royal accommodation for the family during the U.K. trip, but that the security arrangements did not extend off the property, creating concerns about Meghan and the children’s travel.

Harry has repeatedly said the security issue has made it difficult for him to bring his family to Britain. After losing a legal appeal over his U.K. police protection arrangements in 2025, he told the BBC that he could not see a safe way to bring Meghan and the children back at that point.

The Meeting Came During a Difficult Week for Harry

Harry was in Britain for five days of charity engagements and for the judgment in a privacy case he brought against the publisher of the Daily Mail.

Reuters reported that Harry, Elton John and other claimants lost their privacy lawsuits against Associated Newspapers on July 7. The judge dismissed the claims, while Harry and Doreen Lawrence later called the ruling “a complete and obvious whitewash.”
