Prince Harry offered a rare public update on King Charles after the Sussex family’s private visit to Highgrove House.

The Duke of Sussex attended the TIME100 Sports Gala in New York City on July 16, where Page Six reported that he was overheard telling guests his father was “doing great.” The comment came six days after Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet visited Charles and Queen Camilla in Gloucestershire.

Charles disclosed in February 2024 that doctors had diagnosed an undisclosed form of cancer after treatment for an enlarged prostate. The Palace has not identified the type of cancer, and Harry’s gala comment did not include additional medical details.

Harry also reportedly said Meghan and the children were happy to be back home in California after the U.K. trip. No photographs from the Highgrove reunion were released.

Harry made a surprise solo appearance at the July 16 gala, where he was honored for his work with the Invictus Games. Page Six reported that a guest heard him say Charles was “doing great” while he spoke with people inside the event.

The health comment was separate from Harry’s formal remarks onstage. In his speech, he spoke about military service, the founding of Invictus and the role sport can play for wounded service members and veterans.

Harry founded the Invictus Games in 2014 after serving in the British Army and completing two tours in Afghanistan. At the gala, he described sport as a way for injured service members to rebuild confidence and reconnect with their families.

The Comment Followed a Private Visit at Highgrove

Charles and Camilla hosted Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet at Highgrove House on July 10. Buckingham Palace confirmed the meeting but described it as a private family gathering.

The Guardian reported that the visit marked the first time Charles had seen Archie and Lilibet in person since 2022. The children were last in Britain with their parents for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The Palace did not release details about how long the meeting lasted or what the family discussed. Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, were not reported to have attended.

Buckingham Palace announced Charles’s cancer diagnosis in February 2024 after doctors identified a separate health concern during treatment for benign prostate enlargement. The Palace said at the time that the King did not have prostate cancer.

Charles paused public-facing duties while beginning treatment, though he continued state business and official paperwork. He later returned to public engagements while continuing care.

In a December 2025 video for Stand Up To Cancer, Charles said his treatment schedule could be reduced in the new year. He described the update as a “personal blessing” and thanked doctors, nurses, researchers and families involved in cancer care.

The King Has Continued Public Duties

Charles has continued royal engagements during 2026, including hospital visits, military ceremonies and events connected to cancer research and support.

The King has also spoken with patients about treatment and early diagnosis. His public comments have focused on medical care, screening and the support patients receive from relatives and caregivers.

Harry Also Spoke About Meghan, Archie and Lilibet

Page Six reported that Harry also told guests Meghan, Archie and Lilibet were “happy” to be back in Montecito after the British visit.

He reportedly said the children were “growing like weeds.” Archie is 7, while Lilibet is 5.

The Sussex family made no public appearance together during the Highgrove trip, and Meghan did not release photographs from the visit.
