Kylie Jenner is set to play a bride found murdered in a swimming pool in Bachelorette Weekend, a thriller her sister Kim Kardashian is executive producing for Hulu.
The project is using a working title and was finalizing a straight-to-series deal when Deadline reported the news on Oct. 5. Jenner will also executive produce the series, which would mark her first major scripted television role.
The bride’s closest girlfriends become suspects as the series reconstructs the events leading to the killing. Deadline described Jenner’s character as the mystery’s “North Star.”
Lauren Oliver created and wrote the adaptation of an unpublished novel by Flora Collins. Oliver wrote the novel Before I Fall and adapted her book Panic into the Amazon series, writing every episode and serving as an executive producer.
Kim Kardashian Passed the Script to Kylie
Kardashian received the script as a potential producing project and thought Jenner suited the lead, according to Deadline. She passed it to her younger sister, and both quickly came aboard. The project then reached Hulu through Kardashian’s first-look deal with 20th Television, with the streamer moving to take it off the market before it could be shopped more widely.
Kardashian signed that agreement in August 2024 to develop dramas, comedies and limited series, TheWrap reported at the time. She had already worked with the studio on American Horror Story: Delicate and was developing All’s Fair, the Hulu legal drama in which she now stars and serves as an executive producer. Both sisters also star in and executive produce The Kardashians, their family’s reality series on Hulu.
“I’m incredibly interested in telling stories that are personal, complicated, relevant, from my own experiences and those familiar to me,” Kardashian said when the deal was announced.
Collins’s book was developed by Oliver’s company StoryGiants, while Aaron Kaplan and Jaiden Kaplan developed the television adaptation at Kapital Entertainment. Oliver and Aaron Kaplan are also executive producers, Jaiden Kaplan is a co-executive producer.
Jenner’s The Moment Cameo Began With a Joke
Jenner’s earlier screen credits include appearing as herself in 2018’s Ocean’s 8 and voice work in the 2021 animated special Trolls: Holiday in Harmony, Entertainment Weekly noted. Earlier this year, she played an exaggerated version of herself in Charli xcx’s The Moment.
The A24 mockumentary follows a pop star preparing for an arena tour while navigating the demands of fame and the music industry. Aidan Zamiri directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Bertie Brandes, from an original idea by Charli. Jenner appears in an Ibiza spa scene, where her character meets Charli as the singer worries about remaining relevant.
Jenner told Vanity Fair that she jokingly offered to appear because she already knew Zamiri and Charli. The filmmakers then wrote her into the script.
“I’ve actually gotten a few scripts, nothing that I feel is right yet, but I 100 percent want to do more,” Jenner said in the January interview, published March 11.
