Lily Collins has officially said goodbye to Emily Cooper, seven years after she first stepped into the character’s very colorful wardrobe.
The actress and producer marked her final day filming Emily in Paris with an emotional message after production wrapped on the show’s sixth and final season. Collins called the moment “completely surreal and bittersweet” and thanked creator Darren Star, the cast and the crew who built the series with her, according to Just Jared.
Netflix announced in May that Season 6 would be the final chapter of Emily’s story, making the September wrap Collins’ last scheduled day playing the American marketing executive who first arrived in Paris when the series premiered in 2020.
“For so many years, Emily has been a part of my life, and through every season, she’s continued to surprise me, inspire me, and challenge me,” Collins wrote. She ended the message with five words about the experience, “This has forever changed me”, followed by a final “Au revoir, Emily Cooper.”

The pictures were taken at Place de l’Estrapade in Paris, a familiar location closely associated with Emily’s neighborhood throughout the series. Netflix described the setting as the place “where it all began.”
Collins thanked Star for creating an optimistic American character who repeatedly found herself outside her comfort zone while learning to trust herself. She also thanked the writers, directors and crew before turning to a cast she now considers family. “You made this world feel like home,” she wrote.
The show’s official account marked the same milestone by calling the wrap “the beginning of la fin.” Production had taken the final season across Europe, beginning in Greece before moving through Monaco and eventually returning to Paris.
Season 6 Wasn’t Initially Announced as the Final Season
Netflix renewed Emily in Paris for a sixth season in January, shortly after Season 5 arrived on the service. At that point, the renewal was presented as another chapter. That changed on May 21. Netflix officially announced that Season 6 would be the final installment as production began in Greece.
“Season 6 will bring you everything you love about the show and serve as the final chapter in Emily’s adventure of a lifetime,” Collins said in Netflix’s announcement.
Star described making the series as “the trip of a lifetime” and said the cast and crew were preparing one last chapter for viewers who had followed Emily across Paris and increasingly far beyond it.
The Final Season Gives Emily One Last Major Choice
Season 6 begins with Emily’s personal and professional life once again at a crossroads. At the end of Season 5, Emily and Italian fashion heir Marcello Muratori broke up for good and she returned to Paris. Gabriel then learned she was single and sent her a postcard inviting her to join him in Greece before he began working aboard his employer’s yacht.
Netflix’s first-look images for the final season show Emily and Gabriel together in Greece, putting the longtime on-again, off-again pair back in the same place as the series approaches its conclusion.
The official logline makes clear that romance will not be Emily’s only decision. Unexpected career conflicts and shifting relationships will force her to reconsider where she wants her future to be. Netflix says she ultimately faces “one final choice between her career, her heart, and the life she’s built in Paris.”
The returning cast also includes Ashley Park as Mindy, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie, Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, Lucien Laviscount as Alfie, Samuel Arnold as Julien, Bruno Gouery as Luc, William Abadie as Antoine, Minnie Driver as Princess Jane and Paul Forman as Nicolas. Netflix will release Season 6 on Dec. 24, giving the series one last Christmas Eve premiere.
