Mikayla Nogueira says she went from filming a makeup video at home to emergency surgery after severe abdominal pain caused her to pass out.
The beauty influencer shared the health scare in TikTok updates posted Friday, June 12. People reported that Nogueira, 28, called 911 after fainting and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Doctors performed a CT scan and found that her appendix was “going to rupture,” according to Nogueira. She was then taken into emergency surgery to have it removed.
The update startled followers because the pain hit while Nogueira was doing the kind of workday routine her audience knows well: recording beauty content from home.
The Pain Started After a Flight Home
Nogueira said the discomfort began while she was flying home to Massachusetts from Los Angeles. She initially thought it was a stomachache and tried to sleep it off after getting home.
The pain was worse the next morning, but she still attempted to film. In a follow-up TikTok from bed, she said she was doing a makeup video when the room started spinning, she could not breathe, and she fell to the floor before passing out.
When she woke up, she grabbed her phone and called 911 because she knew she could not drive herself anywhere, according to E! News.

Nogueira first posted from the hospital in a gown, with text over the video explaining that she had passed out from severe pain while filming a makeup TikTok, called 911, and was about to have emergency appendix removal surgery.
After fans reacted with concern, she posted a longer explanation from home. She said the CT scan showed that her appendix was close to rupturing, which sent her into immediate surgery.
“I no longer have an appendix,” she said in the update, laughing as she explained what had happened.
She Is Recovering at Home

Nogueira told followers she has three incisions on her stomach and “can’t really walk” as she recovers. She said her boyfriend, Zach, is taking care of her during the first days after surgery.
People reported that Nogueira and Zach previously dated in high school and recently reconnected amid her divorce proceedings from estranged husband Cody Hawken.
“Yeah, it’s going to be an interesting few days,” Nogueira told followers. “And I just wanted you to know what happened, and I love you, and I will be here, in my bed.”
The Emergency Came During a Public Personal Reset
Nogueira has already had a personal year play out in front of her audience. In February, she announced that she and Hawken were divorcing after deciding to split in 2025.
At the time, she asked followers not to speculate about the reason for the divorce and said she wanted to protect Hawken’s privacy. Her latest update again put a private moment in front of millions of followers, but this time the details came from a hospital bed and a recovery video rather than a relationship announcement.
Nogueira said she is resting at home after the surgery.
