Miley Cyrus has removed “Cyrus” from the most visible parts of her online presence, but she has not yet said whether Miley is officially becoming her one-word professional name.
The singer changed her Instagram handle from @mileycyrus to @miley, stripped the surname from her display branding and followed the switch with an Aug. 31 red-and-black portrait captioned simply, “MILEY.”
Her longtime website address, mileycyrus.com, now redirects visitors to MileyOfficial.com. The coordinated change arrives as she begins teasing her 10th studio album.
Cyrus had already revealed that red would define the record visually, and the new campaign follows through with red lighting, black styling and the single-name treatment across her official channels.
Her Instagram Handle and Official Website Now Lead With ‘MILEY’

The Aug. 31 Instagram post makes the change difficult to miss. Cyrus looks directly into the camera under red lighting in a black faux-fur coat, while the caption contains only one word: “MILEY.” Billboard also confirmed that her social username is now @miley.
The same treatment reaches beyond Instagram. Typing mileycyrus.com now redirects to MileyOfficial.com, where the site is titled “MILEY” and carries Atlantic Records’ 2026 copyright notice. The navigation still points to Cyrus’ music, merchandise and foundation, making clear that this is an overhaul of her established official web presence.
VICE noted the missing surname before the Instagram change was fully rolled out, while Billboard subsequently reported that it had contacted Cyrus’ representatives for more information. No formal explanation has followed.
Red Was Already Part of the Plan for Album No. 10
The new color palette predates the apparent name experiment. In a July interview with Daryl Hannah for Wonderland, Cyrus said she knew certain visual details before she made the album, the color would be red, she would wear a leather hat and she already understood the basic frame of its imagery.
She had also settled on the record’s size unusually early. Cyrus said she began with the track list and never moved away from it, leaving the project at 10 songs. She had a rough sense of its sound and concept while allowing individual songs and visual ideas to develop more organically.
Red-and-black imagery had also begun appearing before the @miley switch, including cryptic promotional material carrying “COMING SOON” messaging. Cyrus still has not revealed the album’s title, song titles or release date.
The New Album Is a ‘Love Story’ With a New Record Label Behind It
Cyrus has been more forthcoming about the record’s emotional direction. She called it a “love story” in the Wonderland conversation but stressed that the idea is layered, with romantic love existing alongside the more peaceful relationship she says she has developed with herself.
She explained that a peaceful kind of love has stretched across several recent periods of her life and said the way she relates to herself has affected the relationships around her. The new album, she said, gives both forms of love room.
It will follow Something Beautiful, released in May 2025, and will be Cyrus’ first studio album under Atlantic Records. The label welcomed her to its roster in July after her departure from Columbia Records, which released both Endless Summer Vacation and Something Beautiful.
