Millie Bobby Brown has a very specific theory about who she was before this life.
The Stranger Things star shared the story while promoting Enola Holmes 3 with costar Louis Partridge. Entertainment Weekly reported that Brown said she believes she was a closeted gay soldier who died after being injured with a sword in a past life.
She told the story during a loose Capital Buzz interview with Partridge, where the two actors were talking about past lives, death and what they believe happens afterward.
She said she had a clear idea of the person she thinks she used to be.
Brown Said a Birthmark Started the Theory

Brown said the theory is connected to a birthmark near the bottom of her back, close to the base of her spine.
“Oh, I actually know exactly who I was,” Brown told Partridge, according to Entertainment Weekly. “I died… Basically, I have a birthmark [on] my lower back, the very bottom of my kind of spine, which is obviously meant to be the way that you died in your past life.”
She then explained how she thinks that death may have happened. Brown said she believes she may have been killed during a war after being stabbed through the spine with a sword.
“In war, some, well, I don’t know if this happened a lot or not, but… to kill people but make them have a painful death, they would put swords up people’s spines,” she said. “So they were completely paralyzed, but they would obviously kind of die, and that’s how I think I died. So I think I might have been a soldier.”
She Said She Was “Definitely a Man”
Brown also said she has a clear sense of the gender she believes she had in that past life. Entertainment Weekly reported that Brown said she was “definitely a man” before adding, “Hopefully a closeted gay man.”
Just Jared also reported that Brown described the past-life figure as a closeted gay soldier and tied the theory back to the lower-back birthmark. Partridge did not join her in the belief. When Brown asked him whether he knew anything about his own past lives, he answered, “No, I don’t believe in past lives.”
Brown’s response was short: “Okay, well, that ends that then.”
The Moment Came During Enola Holmes 3 Promo
The exchange happened while Brown and Partridge were promoting Enola Holmes 3. The interview format had the costars speaking directly to each other, which gave the conversation a looser tone than a standard press-tour sit-down.
Entertainment Weekly also noted that Brown has played sword-adjacent action before, including in the 2024 Netflix film Damsel, where she starred as a young woman sacrificed to a dragon.
After hearing her theory, Partridge asked what she believes happens when people die. “You go to heaven,” Brown said, according to Entertainment Weekly. “That’s what I believe.”
