Previously unseen photographs and police records are providing new detail about Liam Payne’s final hours at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires.
The material includes surveillance images showing the former One Direction singer moving through the hotel, speaking with employees and spending time with two women on October 16, 2024, before his death at age 31.
Page Six reported that the images were among thousands of photographs, documents and statements collected during the Argentine investigation and later obtained by the Daily Mail.
The records add detail to a day that has already been extensively investigated.
The Images Trace Payne’s Movements Through the Hotel
Surveillance images reportedly show Payne in different areas of the CasaSur Palermo, including the lobby and other public spaces, during the hours before his death.
Some frames show him interacting with hotel employees, while others show him with two women who later provided statements to investigators. Additional images reportedly document hotel employees bringing items to his room. The photographs came from hotel surveillance cameras.
Two Women Gave Sworn Statements About Their Time With Payne
According to reporting based on those statements, they arrived at the CasaSur at approximately 11:30 a.m. and described Payne’s behavior and the condition of his room. They said they left before the events immediately surrounding his death.
A Reuters Connect video also summarized the accounts. They were not among the defendants charged in the criminal case surrounding alleged drug supply and responsibility for Payne’s death.
Official Toxicology Found Alcohol, Cocaine and an Antidepressant
Payne died after falling from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room on October 16, 2024. Argentine prosecutors said the autopsy determined that he died from multiple traumatic injuries and internal and external bleeding caused by the fall.
Completed toxicology testing later found traces of alcohol, cocaine and a prescription antidepressant in his body, according to a Reuters report on the prosecutor’s findings.
Forensic examiners also found that Payne did not appear to have adopted the reflexive posture normally used to protect the body during a fall. Prosecutors said that supported the possibility that he was in a state of reduced or lost consciousness and ruled out a conscious or voluntary act as the cause.
The Criminal Case Now Centers on Two Drug-Supply Defendants
Five people were initially charged as Argentine authorities investigated events surrounding Payne’s death. An appeals court dismissed negligence charges against Payne’s friend Rogelio Nores and CasaSur employees Gilda Martín and Esteban Grassi in February 2025.
Reuters reported that the court found insufficient grounds to keep the three in the case on those allegations. The remaining drug-supply proceedings involve Braian Nahuel Paiz and former CasaSur employee Ezequiel David Pereyra, who are accused of supplying cocaine to Payne. Both have denied wrongdoing.
The two men were released from house arrest in March 2026 but remain formally charged and awaiting trial. According to the Buenos Aires Times, no trial date had been set when they were released.
